Designer Showcase - Robbie Herring

Hi everyone! I'm Robbie Herring. I have been designing with Bo Bunny for around 2 years now and I'm lovin' it! For those of you who don't know me yet, I'll give you a bit of an over-view.

I've been married to my wonderful husband for 25 years. We just celebrated our silver anniversary last week! I'm so lucky that he is supportive of this fun hobby that I came to love. We have been blessed with 2 children. Our daughter is 24 and our son is 22. We couldn't be any prouder of them! Our daughter is out of college and living about 3 hours from us and our son is a senior at Texas A&M. Whoop!

As those of you with older children know, it is harder to get recent pictures of your kids when they aren't living at home. Thank goodness for Facebook! Without it, I would probably only have Christmas and other holiday pictures. The layout that I am sharing today is a lift off of my daughter's facebook. Even though she has a camera, she usually just uses her phone to take pictures. Some of them won't make it to the page, but some of them end up looking really great and way more fun than the perfect pictures I'm always trying to get.
I used the gorgeous new Serenade Collection to make this one. I chose to really play up the yellows in the collection to go with her photo. Between her yellow top and the extra saturated picture, it was a perfect match!
When I'm putting together a page, I like to add lots of little details. Because I tend to be drawn to EVERYTHING when it comes to embellishments, I always try to ask myself if I see the pictures. It is important to me to have my photos take center stage.

This close-up shows some of the details that I love to do for my pages. Stitching almost always shows up on my pages and I love clustering and shaped papers and stickers. Keeping it to the edges of my phot with just a bit of overlapping helps to keep all this from overwhelming my photo.
More clustering and a touch of fussy cutting make a showing on the bottom of the page. I couldn't help but make leaves out of the patterned paper. Of course, if you are familiar with my work, you will now that a ribbon or bow almost always ends up being added. If you haven't tried the Double Dot ribbon, you need to! I LOVE how it has the dots on both sides to make tying bows and knots a snap!

Recently, I was looking through my computer at all the Bo Bunny projects and pages that I have done over the last 2 years. It's funny, but I don't always go back and look at my pages from the past. Taking a stroll through my Bo Bunny files was almost like looking through my scrapbooks. It gave me the idea to share a few of my favorites here.

First, I wanted to share the first page that I did for Bo Bunny. It's appropriate to this time of year that it's a first day of school page. This is my son on his first day of 1st Grade. Where did the time go? The collection is Learning Curve. I'm still hoarding some of this!
Quick Tip: I used a real wooden ruler on this page. I cut down the ruler to make it fit better. I used Tim Holtz sissors to do it. Be sure that your ruler doesn't have a metal strip to get this look.

Next up, is a Halloween Altered project that I made using the Whooligans Collection. What an adorable collection! I still have this and pull it out during Halloween. Would you believe that the candy still looks great? Wouldn't want to eat it though!
This is a little place setting that I came up with for the Kid's Table at Christmas. It is one of my favorite projects because I had such a great time making it!
Summer is such a fun time for having fun and spending time of the water. I chose this one because I love the picture so much! My daughter made such great friends in college and I think the picture really gives the feeling of a perfect summer day. It was made with the Barefoot and Bliss Collection.
Finally, a more recent collection. This is the Little Miss Collection and I can't get enough of it! Add a wonderful picture of a baby's first day at home and it's perfection. As I mentioned earlier, my kids are grown, so it's especially great to have friends and relatives that share their pictures.
Hopefully, I haven't gone on tooooo long!

Working with Bo Bunny for the last 2 years has been such a fantastic experience! I like to say that I don't have a style and haven't met an embellishment that I don't love. Bo Bunny fits me perfectly! They do it all and do it so very beautifully!

Step it up!!

Today we are bringing you a new feature that we are calling Step it up!  We have had several requests for simple layouts so we decided to take it a step further and give you simple layouts and then also do a couple of extra steps to show you how you can take your layout to the next level!

Spread your Wings
By Tara Orr

First up we have the amazing Tara and her gorgeous layout using Gabrielle, this is her 'simple' version

Next Tara has stepped the layout up by adding a few extra layers like the brown background layer and extra lace layer as well as some more of the script paper with torn edges which adds a bit more texture.  She has also added some small doilies and other smaller items like the butterflies.

For the final step Tara has added lots more details, including different sizes of flowers in various places, chipboard, bling, stickers and some more smaller butterflies.  She has also added some more subtle details like distressing the edges of some of the layers which adds a lot of depth to a layout, inking some edges and adding some faux stitching along the edge of the Noteworthy pages.  As Tara had to say... "The more the merrier!"

Bo Bunny Supplies used:
Patterned Paper: Elegance, Romance, Cameo, Unwritten and Fairest/Gabrielle
Noteworthy: Gabrielle
Layered Chipboard Stickers: Gabrielle
Combo Stickers: Gabrielle

Gambit
By Carin McDonough

Next up is me, using the summery Barefoot & Bliss and this is my simple version.

My second version has been spiced up a little by distressing the edges of the outer papers, inking some edges, adding a couple of extra layers under the main photo, adding some ribbon which always adds texture and painting my title.  It may not show up that clearly in the photo but I painted the title blue to match the papers, added a layer of crackle paint and then added a layer of white paint to achieve the cracked wood effect, a perfect effect for beachy type layouts!

For my final version I took another sheet of the background paper and cut the flowers out and then layered them on top of the background sheet with foam dots to give some dimension as well as adding a few extra flowers.  I did the same thing with the dot strip under the two smaller photos and added a photo corner and some buttons under the main photo.  Lastly I highlighted the sun by adding a ring of stitching and a ring of bling!

Bo Bunny Supply List:
Patterned Paper: Beach Bag, Bubbles, Dot and Cut Out/Barefoot & Bliss
Cardstock: Double Dot in Slate Dot
Noteworthy: Barefoot & Bliss
Jewels: Barefoot & Bliss
Alphabet: Chunky Chips Chipboard Alpha in Chiffon
Buttons: Ad Lib; Bo Bunny
6" Paper Pad: Barefoot & Bliss
Ribbon: 3/8" Double Dot Ribbon in Buttercup

Natural Beauty
By Frances Sylvia

Finally today we have Frances who has also used Gabrielle (definitely a favourite amongst the design team!) and has done this layout with its beautiful clean lines in two steps.  Here is the simple version.

And this is Frances' stepped up version where she has added chipboard photo corners to accentuate her main photo as well as other chipboard pieces and various chipboard and paper butterflies.  Don't you just love her large layered butterfly!  Did you notice how the butterflies form a visual triangle to draw your eyes around the page?

Bo Bunny Supply List:
Patterned Paper: Stripe, Unwritten, Cutouts, Fairest/Gabrielle
Stickers: Gabrielle True Friend Cardstock Stickers and Gabrielle Dimensional Stickers
Chipboard: Gabrielle 12 X 12 and Layered Chipboard

Whether you like the clean and simple look or like to bling it up or something somewhere in between I hope there is something to suit everyone's tastes in our post today!

Who doesn't love a little Jewelery!!

When I hear 'Trinkets' I immediately think of Jewelery!  And who doesn't love a bit of jewelery on their pages and projects!!  How decadent is that?!!  I think the Bo Bunny Trinkets are among my most favourite new embellishments to come out over the past year.  They add so much glamour to a project!  We asked a few of our design team girls to create projects using some of these fabbie embellishments.....Here are some of the unique and beautiful designs they came up with!....

"Beach House" Mini Album
by Tara Orr

(Above) Close up of Trinket which I altered slightly by adding patterned paper and a Combo Sticker rather than the sticker with which it was originally adorned.

Another Trinket that I used as a drawer knob

Designer Tip: I needed a chipboard album that was small enough to fit inside this little house. Solution - one of the kids' old books!! My little ones are done with their 'baby' books now and these ones tend to have really thick pages which make it easier for little fingers to turn. I altered one of these books and it fit inside my Beach House perfectly!

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Barefoot & Bliss Splash, Dot, Word, Surf, Laid Back, Stripe, Beach Bag, Bubbles,
Barefoot & Bliss Collection:
Barefoot & Bliss Collection:
Brads, Rub-Ons, Trinkets
Combo Stickers, Chipboard
Cut Outs, Jewels, Noteworthy
 Layered Chipboard Stickers
Dimensional Stickers, 6x6 Paper Pad

"Smile for the Mommy"
by Carin McDonough

I love the way Carin draped her dotty trim and secured it with the beautiful trinkets! Pure elegance!

Designer Note:  The journaling is hidden behind the photo and is just about how my mom loves taking photos and is always trying to take photos of me and my eldest sister and how we both hate having our photos taken so we are always pulling faces and acting silly so it is not very often that she manages a photo where we are both smiling nicely!

Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Vicki B; Fabuloso, Stripe
Vicki B Collection:
Trinkets, Wrap, Clear Stamp,
Brads, Noteworthy, Jewels
Combo Sticker, 6x6 Paper Pad

"Charming Bracelets"
by Debbie Sherman

Debbie chose to use her trinkets as actual Jewelery!  Just combined with some coordinating beads, she created these darling bracelets!!

Supplies:
Trinkets: Zoology, Barefoot & Bliss
Oher: coordinating beads

"Friends"
by Gabrielle Pollacco

Designer Note:  I've been meaing to scrap some photo's of my youngest daughter and her friend on a trip to the Lion Safari for ages!  I used a large variety of collections for this layout from Zoology, to Gabrielle to Timepiece...even some Snowy Serenade blooms!  I used 3 of the Trinkets from the Zoology collection for this page, ...one of my favourite ways to use trinkets is along with trims.....here I gathered one of the sheer cheetah print ribbons and added a trinket on top of it as a decorative page element.

Supplies:
Patterned Paper:  Zoology Word, Timepiece Dot, Gabrielle Dot
 Trinkets: Zoology (3 designs)
 Trims: Zoology
 Buttons: Timepiece, Zoology
Brads: Zoology
Cardstock Stickers: Gabrielle True Friend
Bo Bunny Flowers (Snowy Serenade)
