One Layout Three Ways with Down by the Sea and Katherine

Hi and welcome to our One Layout Three Ways - I'm taking you from a really clean and simple, white space type layout all the way to a mixed media layout - so I hope there is something for everyone to enjoy.  I've used the Down by the Sea papers and a beach photo, focusing on pinks.

Katherine Sutton - Beach

Here is my finished page, but let me take you back a few steps to show you how it got to this.

I started with Lagoon as my backing paper - it has a lovely distressed feel to it already and then used a mix of Coral and Down by the Sea to back my photo and journal spot.  I added the picture this viewfinder die and a cloud from the picnic die set.  The shell and flag are from the Noteworthy collection and the title is from the chipboard.

In my second version I started to add some paint.  I started with a lace stickable stencil and 3D paste and covered an area around my photo - I did it really roughly so it looked distressed.  I then added some Pink and Antique gold Pentart Creamy Acrylic with white gesso over the top - I created little areas of gold and and darker areas of pink.  Once this had dried I used the gold ink with one of the Take Note stamps.  I also started to distress the edges of my papers.

For my final version I distressed and turned up the corners of the Lagoon paper, and backed the whole page with the Dusty Pink Double Dot.  I then added muslin, shells, 3D balls and lots of the same Pentart acrylics, along with a little bit of the Rich Gold glamour paint - this has lots more shine to it than the acrylic gold, so it shines from the page a little more.  I also added a few more embellishments in the shape of a hand-cut seahorse and one of the layered chipboard pieces that says Beautiful.  To finish it off I added some flicks of the gold glamour paste around the page.

I distressed and tore the edges of my base paper, pinning it back with one of the aqua brads, then I filled underneath with shells and 3D balls, you can see the mix of pink, gold and rich gold glamour paints.

I added some of the rich gold glamour paint to my die cuts, the flicks of paint have a gorgeous golden shine.

Fine Art and Mixed Media with Katherine

Hello everyone, welcome to another Fine Arts Friday. Today I have re-purposed an old frame that had seen better days.

Katherine Sutton - Life is a Journey

Life is a Journey Frame by Katherine Sutton using BoBunny Serendipity

The collection I used for this project was Serendipity - the feathers, butterfly and chipboard are all from this range, the colours also co-ordinate really well with some of the Pentart acrylics.  I used lots of the Pentart crackle medium - I love this product, as you create your paint layer below, then add some of the medium, once it's dry you paint over the top and all the cracks appear - it works well on paper as well as wood.

For the base I used a square of Treetops which has a beautiful pink dot on it and stuck this to the base of the frame.  I then used dark blue, antique gold, light green and pink creamy acrylics - I added pea sized amounts to a brayer and rolled it onto the paper.  I added some white gesso over the top and a little bit of the glamour metallic rich gold as well.

I painted the whole of the frame gold using the antique gold acrylic, then added some patches of crackle medium and then I went over the top with white gesso.  I did add a little bit more in the areas where you could see the gold still - a white acrylic would have worked better in terms of coverage.  I then used the flower fun stencil to create some swirls with the 3D Texture Paste, and also added some areas of crackle medium on top of the paper inside the frame.  I used one of the large blush dahlia flowers and altered the colour with some white gesso.  I then added bits of embellishment from the Noteworthy and chipboard collections.

I also added some bead paste at the base of my flower, and covered it with rich gold glamour paint, you can also see the mandala die cut peaking out behind the flower and some of the 3D Balls which I coloured with bronze glimmer spray and more rich gold.  I also added little bits of the greenish silver glamour paint - applying it with my finger in areas around the frame.

You can see the layers of paint and the crackle effect on both the wood and paper, as well as a little bit of sparkle from the sugar glitter paste.

In the top corner I added a banner from the Noteworthy collection and a smaller one from the layered chipboard.

Serendipity,Stencils, Stamps and Dies with Katherine

Hello everyone, welcome to paper crafting Saturday and I have a new page to show you using Serendipity and lots of the new dies and stamps that have been released.

Your are Amazing - Katherine Sutton

I started the page with some stenciling using the Backsplash stencil and Pentart Structure paste, I then used the Lots of Love stickable stencil with some of the new Apricot Pearl stencil paste.  Continuing to layer up my media I used some Mint and Gold glimmer mist and then the text stamp from the Take Note stamp set.

I used the Mandala, Darling Doily and Ever After Card dies.  For the Doily and Mandala die I added a golden edge using the new rich gold Glamour Acrylic (it is loaded with golden sparkle).  I used a mixture of the Serendipity papers for my photo mounts - Aviary, Branches, Take Flight and Stripe - I distressed and tore portions.  In the corner I created a cluster of flowers from the Natural Earth Pansy and Clover Green Zinnia ranges, and then added a bit more interest with some of the die cuts from the Ever After Card flower dies.  A few gems, some chipboard and Noteworthy and the page was done.

The butterflies are in the Noteworthy collection and you can see the layers of mist and stamping and stenciling.

Serendipity and NEW Mixed Media Goodies by Pentart with Solange

Hello everyone! It's Solange Marques here and today I'll share with you a Fine Art project!

I've made a canvas using the wonderful Serendipity collection and the newest selection of Pentart products.

I've started gluing the photo on the canvas and expanding it with acrylic paints. I've used the new Pentart Stencil Paste on the new BoBunny Stencil that is a background of bricks.

I've added Pentart Silver Wax Paste, Antique Paste and the new BoBunny clear stamps.  I've purposely made the satamps a little "smeary" to lend to the overall look of the canvas.

Finally I've added Serendipity Noteworthy, more Pentart Stencil Paste on the new flourish thick stencil and new Pentart metallic Glamour paint.

You can see I've taken some artist liberties with placing touches of paints here and there to add additional interest.
