Down by the Sea and Cards with Elena O
Hello , it"s Elena here today and I've a got a couple of cards I made using the stamps and craft dies and a bit of fussy cutting. Together in the same project, the "negative" and the "positive" pieces work so well together. This technique adds a truly dimensional effect seeing the finished project.
It was fun to create them. When I started, I thought I would create only a couple of cards really. I started to fussy cut the paper sheet from the Down by the Sea collection, I though it would be great to create a floral card from the nautical theme papers.
Then I stamped the florals using the stamp and the archival inks, as I knew I would add the water while coloring them. So check if your ink is water-soluble so it can be manipulated once the stamp has been placed.
After that I decided to die cut the frames, and realized that I need to try more than 1 color.
It was difficult to choose from so I decided to create 4 cards and to mix the frames and the inner paper part for them.
I prepared my background, created floral clusters and the time for coloring has come. Well, watercolors and the markers are the first thing that comes into my mind when talking about coloring the stamps, however I decided how the Glimmer Spray and Acrylic paints work for that purpose.
I wouldn't say you need any special coloring skills, but actually try to think slightly different, and don't color the leaves green , for instance. and be ready that the spray, even if you use it with a brush as the watercolors and and acrylic pant work differently. Don't apply to mych and damp the image with the water first.
It was a fun and relaxing process, the only thing that I did - I traced some of the flowers with my thin nib marker - this kind of doodling feeling makes the cards to have a completed look, since for one of my stamped images I used the pale pink ink, and the image was not seen enough clearly.
I also added some pearls and crystals , these are great accents.
The cards look almost the same but coloring the flowers in different way makes an alternative.
However the fussy cutting is an intricate detail, and it's quite easy to make your own embellishments for the cards.
For my last card I die cut - Happily Ever After sentiment - from the same die set as the frame.
Hope you will try my tips while creating your cards with the stamps and fussy cutting.

Fine Arts and Mixed Media with Ginny
Hello there BoBunny Peeps! I'm sharing the project I created for Mixed Media Monday which I interpret to mean get alllllll the mixed media supplies out lol. Okay I didn't use all of them....but there's a really nice variety of BoBunny and Pentart supplies. I also want to mention that I didn't get it all over myself and my clothes which is a first.
I was inspired by the gorgeous butterfly image in the Serendipity collection. I cut it out twice then stacked them up to create a dimensional effect.
Stamping the Pocket Full of Posies image onto vellum then cut out to create filler for the arrangement. The Flutter Dies butterfly die cuts are substituted for leaves and create a neutral place for your eyes to land on in the busy mix of supplies. A few Double Dot Pearls tucked in are a nice contrast to the metallic paint splatter.
This dream catcher chippie was altered with Patina Effects and oh my goodness I love it so much. A simple sentiment trimmed from the butterfly cut apart is an inspirational finishing touch.
Okay that's all for me for now. Wishing everyone a happy and productive day : ) G
