Upcycled Notice Board with Katherine

Hi BoBunny Friends!

Katherine here with
an upcycled Cookie Sheet/Baking Tray turned into a notice board with Family Recipes. I've also included a picture tutorial on making some fun decorative flowers.

I started off by giving my cookie sheet a really good clean, and wiped it with vinegar too.  I then added some Dekor Art Primer and used the chalk paints in Soft Apricot.  It took about 3 coats to get a good dense layer of paint.  I then added some texture with texture paste and the Fancy Flourishes artists stencil.  I coated that in apricot and then once that was dry added a mix of watered down acrylic paints - using egg plant and gold, and also some of the glimmer sprays in gold and bronze.

I tucked in the Tick Tock die cut, and added elements I had cut out from the 6" paper pad too.  I used Double Dot paper to make all my flowers in co-ordinating colours.

I used the same technique for both of the flowers in the Perfect Petals die, this is the one that looks more like a daisy.  To create the largest flowers I cut out 2 of each sort.  To make the smaller ones I just reduced the number of layers.

These flowers are known as water-distressed as you start by wetting them and then scrunching them all up.  Once they have dried a bit, but are still a little damp, unfurl them and you can start to ink and shape them.

I added brown ink to all the layers, and starting with the largest flower I bend up the leaves where they hit the centre, and then just shaped them.  I make the final flower into a bud by twisting it so all the petals stand vertically - sometimes I add glue just to hold it in-shape a bit better.

I then glue all the layers together in the middle, slightly off-setting the petals as I go, and again you can shape them a little more as you do this.

I added some of the Tuxedo Brads to the centres, and also some of the rich gold glamour paint which shows up beautifully on the red flowers.

I altered some old magnets - they were rectangular so I just covered them in layers of paper and little elements that I had cut out from the 6" pad.

I hope you have enjoyed the tutorial and have a go at making some of the flowers.

I used ribbon and flowers on this card, but still kept the card quite clean and simple.
