Time to start thinking about Christmas cards

It's almost the middle of October already.... can you believe it? Halloween merchandise has been displayed on store shelves for a while now. In another week or two you will see all the orange and black replaced with the colors of Christmas. Traditional and non-traditional colors alike. I've been asked many times which I prefer... Traditional Christmas colors or Non and to this I say... "I ♥ them both!"

What's not to love about the wintry combo of lime green, aqua blue, and many different shades of purple? Especially paired up with some snow white? The Winter Joy line from Bo Bunny has just this kind of magical color-combo. Add a few punched snowflakes, a little bling and glitter here and there and you're off to winter wonderland. If you're anything like me, you have to start your holiday card making super early so I thought I would share a few Christmas cards to get your creative juices flowing!

Supplies: Winter Joy Cut-out, Winter Joy Frosty, Noel Rub-on

Supplies: Winter Joy Stripe, Winter Joy Awe Die Cut, Winter Whimsy cardstock sticker

Supplies: Winter Joy cut-outs, Winter Joy chipboard, Winter Joy Frosty, Winter Joy Dot, Noel Rub-on, Aquamarine double dot ribbon

Now for Noel....Noel offers the traditional red and green color combos with a twist of vintage. It even has some golds and dark blues to add to the richness of this line. The old fashioned Santa images tug at my holiday heartstrings while the lifelike holly makes me want to burst into song..... Deck the Halls! Here's a couple of cards I created using Noel.

Supplies: Noel Holiday die cut (green mounting paper), Noel Memories, Noel Cheer, Noel chipboard, Noel rub-ons

Supplies: Noel, Noel Traditions, Noel Noteworthy, Noel chipboard, Decaf double dot ribbon

So who has already started working on this year's Christmas cards? Or at least planning what you will be doing? I hope this gave you a few fun ideas! Leave a comment.... tell me which card was your favorite, tell me if you prefer the traditional or non-traditional color combo and I will pick a winner to receive THIS FUN CARD KIT by Bo Bunny.... designed by yours truly! Woot! Have a great week!

  47. Hi Shanna, I love your creations! My favorites on this post are the Winter Joy cards – ALL of them. That color combination is awesome and your creativity roars! My favorite Christmas color combination is chartreuse, aqua and grape with EITHER fuchsia or holly red. I don’t follow the beaten path in life so why go with traditional colors?! LOL! Our Christmas tree always displays the hundreds of ornaments we’ve collected but I try to add a new bling factor each year to keep it interesting. Last year it was hot pink and lime green netting and a few hot pink ornaments. I feared my husband wouldn’t be too impressed but he actually loved it! Thanks for the chance to win one of your awesome card kits! :D

  178. I can't say that I have a favorite because I choose colors and patterns by the photos or who the card is for. I recently purchased the Noel collection and had so much fun making my LO and cards. I love all the cards posted above but the Santa on the Noel side is perfect!

  179. First I have to say how exciting it is to hear all your sweet comments and feedback! So thanks so very much!

Karey.... in response to your comments... I have to say…. WOOT! WOOT!!! It’s always so exciting when I hear of people spotting my designs in scrap stores! But there IS actually a sheet of instructions in each kit. They all have them. They are pretty basic, because the cards themselves are basic. You would love them! Thanks for posting! You're a sweetie!

  180. I love all these cards! The non traditional colors are so fun and cheery but the traditional colors are so classic and pretty. I recently created a non traditional colored Christmas card, inspired by the Peacock Lane collection and using the backside of some Double Dot papers. You can check it out here: http://capturingcreativity.blogspot.com/2010/07/christmas-in-july.html
