Frightfully Delightful

Good Morning! It's starting to get that nip in the air isn't it! Fall is here and with the leaves turning, I am thinking of Halloween costume ideas! I wanted to share my delightful handmade mask idea, for a costume or home decor idea.
I purchased this simple white half mask at the craft store. To cover the mask, I punched 1 inch circles, then glued them on individually. Starting around the eyes, I used the purple paper and layered them overlapping each other around the eye holes. Once it was dry, I used an exacto knife to cut off any pieces over the edge. ( You can substitute Concord Double Dot cardstock or Boo Crew Masquerade here.)

I used this Spooktastic Stripe paper for my second layer, trying to keep the stripes straight on the mask.

My last layer- without photo- sorry- was a green layer, and this could be Wasabi Double Dot Cardstock or Boo Crew Stripe. To make my flowers- I cut thin strips of paper, about 1/2 inch wide, and 12 inches long. ( My photo shows the three steps for this stage) I then folded the strip in half - width wise- so it was about 1/4 inch wide. You can cut this step out if using double sided paper or cardstock. Then I twisted the strip in a long curl.
To finish the flower. I punched a 1 inch circle, then coiled this curl around, starting with a tight loop, I glued the strip onto the circle as a base- that would hold the flower in place. I made several flowers of each color, and after gluing them and several peacock flowers to the mask, along with a couple paper curls, I added glitter to the flowers.

To finish the mask, I used black glitter glue around all the edges, adding in gems, to the eyes and swirls of gems to the side of the mask.

The mask is absolutely wearable- as I had my daughter Annalise model for me. It would also make a wonderful decor item for your wall or even, perhaps, as a Jack O'Lantern decoration!

I hope this mask will inspire you to try creating some wonderfully spooky with Bobunny this Halloween!
