One thing I love to do when creating projects is have someone or something in mind to gift it to or use around my house when I'm done. Having something cute and crafty displayed in your home that you made is even MORE fun when it's functional too!!!
A good friend of mine posted on her Facebook last week that she wanted to create a "chore chart" for her young boys that was cute enough to display on a wall in her home.... AND get the boys' excited about getting their chores done. I don't think many kids are THAT excited about housework but at least MOM can be happy with the "cuteness" factor right? HA!
So..... here's a version of a CHORE BOARD I created for smaller children. Kassidy gave me specific "chores" that she wanted her boys to do. Since the smallest of the two can't read very well... we decided to use little symbols for that chore on each star. I found these by looking online for free clip art and printing them the size I needed. Each boy has their own star color. One has red, one has blue.
Once they've completed their chore they move their star to the "Done" side. I found a thin sheet of metal
at Lowe's for only $5 then cut it down to 12" x 12" so I could cover it in this fabulous new line from Bo Bunny... Liberty! Then added some magnets to the backs of each star. I also couldn't resist adding this really good quote by Thomas Jefferson about hard work. I thought it went well with these Americana themed papers.
Here are several photos of this project. I used wood to back it on but you could easily use cardboard or chipboard as well. Feel free to leave any questions you might have in the comments and I will answer them as I can. I know with summer break only a few days away.... our "chore chart" that we currently use is going to need some revitalizing. Much to my girls' dismay. Enjoy!
