Field Trip Friday!

Welcome back to another Field Trip Friday!!  Designing outside of your comfort zone is always challenging and it's no different for the Bo Bunny design team.  It can also be very rewarding, when something you wouldn't normally do turns out fabulous!

Here's what Carin McDonough had to say about her project.
This was hard for me to work out what to do because I often try off the page things and I have scrapped about most things before!I decided to try and do a layout with lots of white space. I have a huge love of patterned paper so if I look at most of my layouts they do tend to have most of the page covered in somthing! I totally adore layouts with lots of white space but do find them hard to do. I really enjoyed doing this layout though even though I kept finding myself trying to spread out and add more stuff all the time and will defintely be doing some more!

This was a challenge!!!!! It is so easy to do what you are comfortable with
I very seldom scrap photos of myself and I "never" sew on my pages!
I also challenged myself to use more jewels and trinkets!

Focus on Brads and a Guest Designer!

Hello Bo Bunny fans!  In today's post we are focusing on Brads.  Brads have been around in scrapbooking forever, well definitely as long as I have been scrapbooking!  Their popularity has been up and down and up again over the years but they have definitely stuck around.  They are such a handy little item and can be used in various ways from attaching items to your page, to flower centres to random decorative elements and everything in between!  Bo Bunny has quite a range of brads and each pack comes with various different designs and shapes to suit any project.

Let's see what the designers have come up with for us today using brads but first onto our exciting news!  We have a wonderful guest designer joining us for the Summer and I am sure that many of you will know her, I know the design team were thrilled she was joining us.  She is one of the sweetest people ever, and a complete superwoman with all she does so please help us welcome Julie Tucker-Wolek!

My name is Julie Tucker-Wolek and I have been scrapping since my son was born 15 years ago, but really got into it as a major passion about 6 years ago when my daughter was born. I create everything! Cards, layouts and altered projects! I have been a Bo Bunny fan for as long as I can remember! In fact, the owners of BlueMoonScrapbooking.com (who I am the DT coordinator for), tells me when there is NEW Bo Bunny in the store, cause they know I will WANT it! lol!! And one of the main reasons I know that I am a HUGE Bo Bunny fan -- my daughter named her little bunny she got for Easter, "Mini Bo Bunny!" lol!! Gotta love it! I am THRILLED to be here with the Bo Bunny team for the summer, they are amazing, and I am honored to be guesting for them!!

This is Julie and her adorable daughter Brookie.

Now onto the design team layouts, starting with Julie who has used the beautiful new Little Miss range, perfect for these cute photos of her little girl.

Designer Showcase- Debbie Sherman!

It's Wednesday and that means another Designer Showcase! I have loved getting to know these designer's style through their projects. As you can see each one of the Bo Bunny designers has a unique style that is just awesome! Today's designer Debbie Sherman is no exception. I can always pick out her layouts by her fun bright designs and her use of flowers. She always has flowers some where on her projects and I love that! I just LOVE all her work really!

Today she has a layout to share using the new "Hello Sunshine" line and here is what she has to say about it:

This project has to be one of my favorites! It's bright and so summery! The colors are perfect for a fun day at the playground!

The new Hello Sunshine collection really fit this photo perfectly! A day at the colors in the photo helped me choose this collection.

The flower embellishments were made using packaging and a favorite flower and leaf die, I simply die cut the plastic and colored with ink and heated them up to shape. I cut out the honeycomb shapes from the various patterned papers and then popped them up with foam squares, and added Hello Sunshine chipboard to give the layout dimension.

As Final touches I added flourishes and butterflies to give the layout some movement.

Technique Tuesday

It's Technique Tuesday here at Bo Bunny!  It is an opportunity for the design team to tell you about some techniques that we use and to give some tips for how we do it.  This Tuesday, we have made some layouts that show distressing.  From working with other scrappers, I know that everyone seems to have their own favorite way for distressing.  Here a a couple of examples from Robbie and Tomoko.

Welcome Home
by Robbie Herring
This was made using the brand new Little Miss Collection.   I like to just use the edge of my scissors to distress the edges of my paper and then add a couple of strategically placed tears.  The great thing about distressing is that if you accidentally tear your paper while distressing, you can just ink it up and act like you planned it!  I prefer the Cat's Eye Chalk Ink in Chestnut Roan for my inking on distressed pages.

The flowers and doilies were also lightly inked and then sprayed with Glimmer Mist.  I prefer the Wheatfields color to give a light antiqued look.

I also sprayed the ribbon and the fabric flower with the Wheatfield Glimmer Mist.

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Little Miss Jaquoya, Gracie, Maree, Lizzie, Jamayka and Allie
Chipboard: Little Miss
Stickers: Little Miss Combo and Little Miss Sweet Girl
Petals: Little Miss and Green Scrunch
Trinkets: Little Miss
Jewels: Little Miss

Best Friend
Tomoko Takahashi
Tomoko added lots of distressing to her layout.  There are tears, inking and lots of texture used to give here layout this lovely look.  Tomoko also used the Little Miss Collection for her layout and came up with a completely different look!

You can see the cutting and inking that she used here.  Notice that there are lots of layers.

Take a look at this next picture to see all the extra texture that she has added to her layout.  You can also see that there is glaze added tothe alphabet.  Many paint dots add such a special touch to Tomoko's work.
