What are Artist Trading Cards?

Although ATC's have been around for quite awhile,
some of us are just being introduced to them.
Other's have been making and trading them for years.

What are ATC's?
Artist Trading Cards
Think of it as your own personal, unique fun business card.
There are only a couple rules to making an ATC.
1. It must have a 2 1/2" X 3 1/2" base
2. It must be a one of a kind creation

That's it.
How easy is that? I don't really like to be
restricted by rules, but these two... piece of cake!

I LOVE the cards the girls have made.
I think it's so much fun how their personal style shows in their cards.

A little more info on ATC's....  these are really fun to make and keep,
but even more fun if you get in a group of friends and make and exchange them.

I have all of mine on a Rolodex and I can not even tell you how much fun
they are to look and and go through.  Also, it's a great conversation piece.
Everyone that walks in my house asks about it.

When swapping ATC's, be sure to put your name and info on the back of the card.

If you get a chance to play and make your own ATC's....
be sure to share your masterpieces with us!
Have a SUPER weekend!

(even if you don't have a pet, I'm pretty sure you're still going to love
the layouts because they will work perfect for your photos as well)

Big Boy Jax
Lynn Shokoples

Journaling: In April 2012 I got a call about adopting another puppy. Well, when I saw that little face, I couldn't resist. So baby jax came home weighing 15 pounds. Now jump ahead to August and baby Jax has grown quite a bit. At 6 months old he is well over 60 pounds with another 6 months of growing to do. He is the sweetest, most gentle dog I have ever had. He is always ready to cuddle. I love my big boy!

So Dog Gone Cute
Gabrielle Pollacco
So here is mine! We picked up our sweet Zoe just a little over a year ago....we were told by the breeder that there was only one puppy left in this litter, when we walked into the place, my eyes were immediately drawn to this scruffy little pup sporting this cute little faux-hock! I thought to myself, too-bad we don't get first pick of this litter because this one would be my pick...then unbelievably the breeder said this little pup would be ours if we want her!.....my next thought was, okay, how badly behaved is she, that no one picked this little cutie-pie first! Well, let's just say this first year we learned why! lol! Countless socks, shoe's, hats, mits and yes! even underwear destroyed by this pup! She definitely has a personality all her own, full of mischief but just so much fun as well...we just love her and wouldn't trade her in for anything!

I'm just loving the color combination of butter yellow and grey lately so I chose to use the yellows in the Serenade collection and mix it with some soft grey double dot paper. Added in some of the new yellow blooms and lace as well.

"The gift box was originally meant to be a wine box. I covered it with patterned paper and added a ruffle edge to the lid to give it a back to school/teacher feel. I then filled it with goodies for my sister, who is a teacher, with things such as Post It notes and her favorite pens for grading papers."
I LOVE that Juliana cute the apples out of the Apple Cider collection and adhered them.

Layouts with limited supplies

Today we are making one page layouts with our formula.
In case you've forgotten, it's as follows...

3 sheets of patterned paper
1 sheet of cardstock
1 sheet of stickers
1 package of embellishments of your choice

I think you're going to love what you can do with such a few products!!

Your Smile
Tara Orr
Designer Tip: To lengthen the life of your embellies and stretch their use, don't hesitate to cut them in half, disassemble them, paint them, mist them, stamp on them, etc. Remember, all of your embellishments are alterable. I tore apart most of my flowers and tucked some of them under my papers and kept some as is. I also took off the centers of some of the flowers and used them as embellishments around my photo.
 Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Journey, Cut-Outs, Dot/Apple Cider
Stickers: We Are Family Cardstock Stickers/Apple Cider
Cardstock: Gingerbread Vintage
Blossoms: Buttercup Daisy
(Stamps: Urban Acrylic, Et Cetera Clear, Midnight Frost Clear)

 Best Friends
  Agnieszka Piskorz
Designer tip: My picture is very colorful, so I went bright background. Colored strips of paper pointed out the picture. I try to choose colors that match the pictures.

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Around, Postage/Weekend Market ; Mistletoe Chevron;
Cardstock: Chiffon Journal
Rub ons: Detour
Stickers: Combo Stickers Camp a Lot

 Out in the Woods
Sarah Eclavea
Designer Tips: When using a few supplies cut up patterend paper to make your own. I cut out the trees from the Camp-A-Lot paper to create my tree embellishments and cut my scraps to create a banner. I saved all my scraps to create banners on cards and other projects.

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterend Paper: Camp-a-lot, Firewood, Starry Night/ Camp-A-Lot
Stickers: Combo Stickers/ Camp-A-Lot
Chipboard: 12x12 Chipboard/ Camp-A-Lot

Spring Break
Robbie Herring
Designer Tips: Make your stickers go further by using them as embellishments and in the place of title. To give mine more the look of embellishments, I added lots of foam dots.
Also, try keeping to specific shapes to pull your page together. Since I used squares for my paper design, I chose to use round brads for my embellishing. Punched circles and circle stickers compliment the brads and make layering the embellishments easy.
Ideas for more uses: Brads are such an easy embellishment to work with.
They will fit pretty much anywhere. I keep my left over brads in a drawer so
I can pull them out for added detailing on my pages.
 Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper-Detour Stripe, Cut Outs, Recalculating
Double Dot Cardstock-Cranberry Dot
Stickers-Detour Home Sweet Hotel
Brads-Detour

These girls make me feel like anythings possible!  So if you happen to be
on a budget or you don't have a lot of time... make sure to take note and don't
forget to share your creations with us!
You guys are the best!!!

Mixed Media on Layouts

I can't even stand how excited I am about today's post!
Mahlin and Irene really ROCK this style!

 Road Ahead
by: Irene Tan
 Irene says:
"On this layout, I've tried to duplicate the bricks background in the photograph on to the layout to create a scene layout. To create it, I've first apply some molding paste onto the layout and while it is still wet, I've used the negative of a chipboard brick piece to create the brick impressions on the paste. To add more interesting element to it, I've also added some pieces of the actual chipboard bricks on it. Then, I've misted it with a few layers of paints to get the color I want.

If you look at the layout closely, you will see that I'm kind of dimensional in the photograph. I've actually printed two pieces of the same photograph. I've adhered one of it to the layout and the second piece, I've cut myself out from it. Then, I used some pop dots to adhere it directly on top of the same image to create some dimension to that image.

Hope you all find these tips useful!"

Sommar
by: Mahlin Wiggur
 Malin says:
"I worked with a lot of layers both on my background but also on my petals. But first, the background. I chose a patterned paper with lots of color but I decided to tone it down a bit by adding some gesso. I had a piece of netting to create a pattern when adding my gesso with a brayer. If you use a heatgun to dry your gesso it will pop up a bit more when the heat is high and give an extra dimension to your pattern. I also added 4 layers of different colors of mist, 3 shades of pink and one brown.. Finishing of with a final layer of gesso but this time carefully wiped of a bit with a baby wipe.

The petals are covered in a layer of transparent glitter mist, white stain, crackle paint in metallic colors and some stains again. I used the transparent layer to add moisture to my petals, being able to shape them a bit before adding more heavy paint but be careful so they don´t get torn while wet."
Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Jaquoya, Little Miss/Little Miss;
Stickers: Little miss Combo Stickers
Trinkets: Hello Sunshine, Little Miss
Petals: Hello Sunshine, Little Miss, Camp-A-lot
Brads: Hello Sunshine
Jewels: Little Miss

I'm really wanting to bust out some gesso, wipes, molding paste and sprays...
How about you guys?
Please, please share your creations with us on facebook if you play with mixed media.... I 'm so intrigued.

Sisters
By Samantha Wright

Designer tip: Take inspiration from the patterned papers you are using. When tasked with this banner assignment, I knew which paper collection I'd like to use, so it was just a case of brainstorming and "paging through" my paper stack when I noticed the row of little bird cages on the Cut Out sheet and that sparked my banner idea! The large bird cages also hint at the banner idea!

 Bo Bunny Supplies:
Double Dot: Coffee Flourish
Patterned Paper: Maree, Jamayka, Allie, Cut Outs/ Little Miss
Stickers: Sweet Girl Cardstock Sticker
Jewels: Little Miss

Adam's Room Banner
by Julie Wolek-Tucker

Designer Tip: The great thing about making a banner is you have room to add anything you want! At each end of my banner, I had room to add the trees I cut out of the 12x12 Camp-A-Lot sheet

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Camp-A-Lot Mini Album
Camp-A-Lot Combo Stickers
Camp-A-Lot Dimensional Stickers

Alrighty then.... I "BAN" each of you to your scrap room until you
come out with a fabulous banner project.  Make sure you share it with us on facebook.
