Beautiful Snow Technique!

Greetings and welcome to the blog today! As you know, this month we are partnering with Leaky Shed Studio. For my project today I wanted to show a technique to alter the chipboard with a texture similar to snow.

I used the Leaky Shed Studio, Swirl Vine Corner Medium chipboard, then turned it upside down to create an easel to display my photo collage.

To begin, I prepared my background paper and used our Stickable Stencils from the Brocade set. The large was done with Glitter Paste in Silver and the two smaller using Pearlescent in Sugar to simulate snowflakes.

I grabbed my craft mat, foam brush, Glimmer Spray in Sugar and some Pearlescent Embossing Paste. You could also use plain Embossing Paste for this step also since the spray will add in the shimmer.

Take some embossing paste, place it on your craft mat. Spritz the Glimmer Spray a few times, then mix it well. Once mixed pretty well you can use your foam brush and apply.

You want to apply a nice amount so that you get the texture.  Once your first coat is applied, use your heat gun to create the embossed texture. I repeated this process one more time to get final result.

Here you can see the snow like texture. For this process you wouldn't want to use a design that has tiny details in it, but for larger types of chip, this works well.

I set my chipboard piece aside to dry and went back to my background paper since the Glitter Paste and Pearlescents were now dry.  I added some drops of Glimmer Spray in Bronze, Frost and Sugar. I set that aside to dry for a bit.

Now I was able to work with my finished chipboard element and determine how I wanted to layer it and of course, add more accents to my snowflake background design.

I added a die cut doily to layer on top of the Glitter Paste snowflake. The chipboard easel was accented with some Double Dot Blue Hues Jewels. I anchored it at the top by layering a Chipboard Button underneath.

I mixed in some Combo Sticker elements, Noteworthy, Layered Chipboard and Film Stickers.  This was such an absolutely fun project to create, it almost designed itself!
