Get to know Tish

1)Tell us about yourself and your family?

Hi, my name is Tish Treadaway. I am married to a very supportive husband and have three children, two in college and one a senior in high school. During the day, I work at a school, and in the evenings, I study art at the local community college. On the weekends, I spend my free time scrapbooking.

2) How did you start scrapbooking?

My mother gave me my first scrapbook at age twelve; it was a yellow burlap book. In high school, I took tons of photos and participated on the yearbook staff. When I had children, I started making baby books for them. When the market introduced scrapbook products, it was that very moment when I became an official scrapbooker!

3) How long have you been scrapbooking?

I've been collecting photos, cards and memorabilia pretty much all my life, I can’t seem to throw anything away. Although scrapbooking wasn't officially a part of my vocabulary then, my love of crafts, hobbies and photography have been a major part of my life.

4) What’s your favorite vacation spot?

I am a warm weather person, I love going to the beach. I find it relaxing and can’t resist all of the photo opportunities available.

5) How would you describe your style?

I would have to say that I am a simple scrapbooker with an eclectic style. I love to try all kinds of styles and techniques but find myself returning to shabby chic, vintage trinkets and using anything that involves flowers!

6) How do you feel about journaling? A lot, a little?

I believe journaling is important; after all I am trying to relay a story. I just find it difficult to write and express myself. My daughter is studying photo journalism with an English minor; she is a sweetheart taking the time to proof my work. When I journal in my scrapbooks, I leave my typos and run on sentences, it’s all part of who I am.

7) Do you have a favorite color? Do you feel it plays an influence in your scrapping?

Primarily my photos are the deciding factor for the colors that I use in my scrapbooks. I must admit, I have been known to covert photos to black and white just so I can use my new pretty papers and embellishments. Right now, my favorite colors to use are brown and turquoise.

8) Do you have your own scrapspace?

Yes, my husband gave me a scrapbook studio at home. He had a cabinet maker design all of my file drawers and cabinets. This is the only photo I was willing to share when my cabinets were first installed, less the mile high piles of scrapbook projects.

9) What are your favorite subjects to scrapbook?

I love to take candid shots of people; I am not great with posing them. I take pictures of family, flowers and school events for our yearbook.

10) What size do you like to scrapbook?

I have worked with a variety of scrapbook size albums. I tend to scrapbook 12 x 12 size layouts with over 50 completed albums. I love to make mini albums as well. Mini albums are so cute, fun to make and easy enough to complete in a weekend!

11) What or where do you go for inspiration?

Since I work in a school; I find great resources in our media center in the children’s craft book section. It’s so much fun to learn the history behind specific crafts and apply these techniques to my scrapbook pages. I read a lot of scrapbook magazines; it keeps me up to date on the latest products and trends. The local newspaper is another source to get fashion and home décor ideas that I can apply to my scrapbook pages. I keep a stash of books and magazines in my car so I am prepared to take a few with me on my way to appointments.

12) How do you start working? Sketch, supplies, photos…

I work by theme, pulling out all the papers and embellishments so I can see them all. I work on several projects at a time, so my scrapbook room has piles everywhere! If I get stuck on a project, I walk away, think about it and start working on the next. Friends think that I am a fast scrapbooker because they see me completing projects. In reality, I’m juggling several at a time doing bits and pieces daily.

13) What’s your favorite Bo Bunny layout or project?

One of my favorite projects is this Reflections compact mirror mini album. My daughter and I contributed our own journaling about our similarities. I used Bo-bunny Felicity pattern papers, cardstock stickers and Garden Chic rub-ons designed to fit into an old compact mirror.

14) What is your favorite Bo Bunny product to work with?

There are so many Bo Bunny products that I love: the pretty pattern papers, double dot ribbon, acrylic albums and all of their chipboard products. Oh yeah, did I mention rub-ons? I can never get enough rub-ons.

15) Any advice to someone who is just starting scrapbooking?

Start with a small mini album using photos from a current event. It is a great way to learn, get a taste of scrapbooking and enjoy the rewards of a completed project! Subscribe to the Bo-bunny Blog to receive updates and inspiration from the design team members. I’ve learned so much from my design team friends at Bo-bunny Press.
