Make A Splash and Pentart Iron Paste with Katherine

Hello, Katherine here with some party ideas using the really cute Make a Splash collection, don't the penguins just make you smile?

I've created this little treat boxes that you could use for parties, or just little gifts...or maybe Easter eggs, jelly beans, or just chocolate.

The 6" pad is the perfect size for this project, here is a little tutorial to explain how I made them, and also to give you a few of my favourite tips.

Take your 6" piece of paper and then score at 2 7/8" and 5 3/4"

Fold and crease the score lines, add some tape (any good double sided tape works well) along the 1/4" flap on the patterned side.

Add a piece of double sided tape what will become the bottom edge of the box (don't worry about the top edge as we secure this with ribbon later).  My top tip here, is before sticking, just bend up a small part of the double sided tape backing paper and fold it out as in the photo.  Then fold your 6" paper along the centre score line and stick it together using that 1/4" flap.  You then need to seal the bottom piece of your box, so this is where you will notice you have that little bit of backing paper sticking out, so you just pull it and you'll be able to seal the bottom really easily.

At the open end of the box, bend the top so that  it makes a diamond shape and push the 2 sides together.

Hold the 2 sides together and punch 2 holes in them - this is where you will secure the top with some ribbon, so they are easy to open.

I created tags using the Vacation paper and trimming them to be a tag shape.  To add a bit more glamour I also cut out several penguins from the Lazy Days paper and added some sparkle with the Pentart Iron Paste, it has a more subtle look than the glitter, but gives the black skin of the penguins a really nice shimmer.

I attached he tags with twine to the top hole, and just played layering up lots of cut-outs to make each pack individual.

They are really easy to open and you can fill them with all sorts of goodies!

Life in Color and Pentart Metallic Wax Pastes with Ginny

Hey BoBunny Peeps! Let me just tell you that I have fallen for the Pentart Metallic Wax Paste.  Not only does it add a gorgeous detail to your creations...but it is also super easy to use. For my project today I'm upcycling a plaster frame stand that I sourced at a local discount store in the markdown section.

Life In Color was the perfect pairing for this frame. It's kinda "arty" so I think the mixed media supplies work so great with it.

This frame has a lovely base with additional raised areas to highlight with the wax. It's also super heavy so there is no concern that it  might tip over.

While I had the wax paste out I added a bit of detail to the BoBunny Blossoms. To round out the arrangement there's a bit of netting and twine bows. Last but not least metal gears in coordinating silver.

I took out the glass part of the frame so I could add the brick background pattern then adhere the following layers with foam spacers.  Bling is always a good for an well placed bit of sparkle. These coordinate really well so the don't contrast with the background.

So many layers!!!! This definitely has a very dimensional look, and the wax paste does the trick in making them stand out nicely.

Here's the process of finishing the frame....

I was able to cover it in with only 1 coat of Pentart Creamy Acrylic Metallic Paint in Graphite. Yay for 1 coat!!!! After allowing to dry I used my finger and a very light touch to add the wax to the raised areas.  Easy Peasy. So much beauty for so little work!!!

Okay that's all for me today. Wishing everyone a happy and productive day with lots of time to be creative.
