Reverse Image Stamping

Time for another tutorial. While making a layout for a previous blog post I was using the butterfly stamp from the Flutter Butter collection. I wanted to make three butterflies, two going in the direction that the stamp was made to go and one facing the opposite direction. Hmmmmm....so I pondered and pondered and pondered, then my eyes fell upon the little sheet of transparency that comes in the package with almost all clear stamps one buys. Right then and there I had a light bulb moment. Want me to share it with you? yes? good!!!

Supplies needed:

Ink pad, stamp with desired image, acrylic block, stamping pad, the spare transparency sheet in your stamp packaging and a marker that is the same color of your ink pad

Mount your stamp on your acrylic block and ink it up. Then stamp directly on to your transparency sheet. Careful as it will be slippery...steady hand.

Then turn your transparency over and carefully lay on top of the piece of paper that you want to stamp the image on. Now rub over the stamped image and then remove the transparency.

You will be left with a "not so great" image. There should be enough of an image that you can then use your marker and color in the image. That is why I stamped an original image above my reverse image so that I could see what it is suppose to look like.

Next I chose to cut out the images and pop them up on a card with pop up dots.

See you can hardly notice the difference between the two stamped images.

Voila! Done...just add a simple "you make my heart flutter" sentiment on the interior of the card!
