Mixed Media Tutorial!

Hello everyone, today I'm going to share another easy tutorial featuring some fabulous new BoBunny products. Last month I shared a tutorial featuring BoBunny washi tape paired with tissue paper. Today, I'll share a tutorial again using tissue paper, paired with BoBunny foil transfers. Foil transfers are great and can be applied to many different smooth surfaces, such as paper, acrylic, etc. Traditionally, though, the surface does need to be smooth, otherwise the transfer you're working with will tear and it would be impossible to apply it correctly. However, using tissue paper makes it possible to add transfers to uneven, mixed-media surfaces.

Step 1. Cover your surface with the medium you want. Here, I am making two cards, so I used BoBunny stencils, a BoBunny pallet knife, and BoBunny glitter paste for one card, and plain white crackle paste for the second card. Here I am making cards, but of course you could use this technique on any project.

Step 2. Next, apply your transfer to tissue paper. BoBunny foil transfers are very sturdy, making them easy to work with even with something as delicate as tissue paper.

Step 3. Next, simply cut out the transfers. Try to stick to the edge of the design so there's not too much excess tissue around the edges. Then, add the tissue paper with the transfer to your project using gel medium. I prefer matte gel medium (as opposed to glossy).

As you can see, once applied and dry, the tissue paper "disappears" into the background. I used a darker grey background for you to see how well this works. If you use a lighter or white background, the tissue paper will be almost completely invisible even more so.

You can clearly see how the foil transfer molds itself to the raised design on each card. Also, using the tissue paper help to ensure that the design ends up exactly where you want it to be, since you can move it around to desired position before letting it dry.

Step 4. That's it! Now you just decorate the card and have fun with it :)
