Boardwalk Mixed Media!

The new Boardwalk collection is such a lovely and versatile range, there are a few sheets that really captured my attention. I decided to feature them in a new art journal that I recently purchased. Today we are focusing on mixed media techniques so I will share with you what I did for my art journal.

I started with a base coat of clear gesso base so my colors would mimic the muted tone of the pattern paper chosen. Once dry, I misted lightly with Gold Shimmer Spray around the edges of my page and set aside to dry. Next, I mixed some Pearlescents in Sugar, Brilliant Blue and Island Mist onto my nonstick craft mat.

Using a stencil brush, I stippled and blended the Pearlescents into the border of my art journal page. and let dry. My paper is trimmed to fit, then corner rounded on the right sides.

Next, I used the circle stencil from the Brocade Stickable Stencils set and Silver Glitter Paste by blocking off areas in the stencil I did not want to use with post-it notes. (See collage image above). Once dry, I used Sugar Pearlescents and the script stencil. All I had to do was gently rub in the Pearlescents.

I set this aside to dry and found my Distress Textures stamps and stamped a few times on the right side under the sweet Misc Me Pocket Square using Licorice Ink.

Once dry, I used the Silver Filagree flourish Transfer for an accent. I accented the sentiment here with some Double Dot Aqua Alphabet Stickers which were just perfect for this project!  A few drops of Glimmer Spray sprinkled randomly around in Sugar and Gold were added as well. Some Noteworthy, Button and Jewels finished my project.
