Mixed Media Meets Zip-A-Dee-Doodle

As mixed media becomes more popular in the industry we want to provide fun techniques for your creative learning! Using our Zip-A-Dee-Doodle theme, our design team friends have created mixed media layouts!

Gear Up by Lynn Shokoples

The fun thing with adding mixed media to your layout is that there is no right way, wrong way, too little or too much! For this layout I got out my sprays, my masks and my ink pads and stamps! I was a little nervous to start but I had so much fun playing with this layout.

First I sprayed my background with blue and green then went in with a darker green and masked with a gear stencil. For a little extra I played with my BoBunny stamps and some black ink.

The Kraft Wooden Gears were so fun to alter. Just a touch of some green and blue chalking ink with a jewel in the center to give it some extra zing!

For this mixed media layout, I've used tons of paints, texture paste, gesso, masks and stamps. I always like to add textures to my mixed media layouts. I will use texture paste to cover my chipboard pieces and also use it with stencils or masks. To create more rough texture surfaces, apply your paste in dabbing motion rather than spreading. Or you can use a hard brush to tap into your texture paste after spreading it.

It's A Wonderful Life by Solange Marques

I love mixed media layouts and in almost all of my projects there are paints, acrylic gesso, modeling paste and other textures. I love expand my photo to melt it on my background, mainly photos on the beach, where I can paint the sea, sky and rocks like this project.

I used Ceramic Stucco to add more texture on the page.
