Misc Me & Boardwalk!
With hundreds of beach photos to scrap, the new Boardwalk collection from BoBunny is right up my alley! For this month's tutorial, I'm focusing on mats and frames. As we begin, here's a look at a doubled-matted design for my 12x12 album cover:
Happy Place by Keri Babbitt
Here's a little peek into my method for cutting mats and frames.
First, using a straight-edge and exacto blade, I cut the center out of the mini-squares paper:
Next, measuring 1/4" from the inside of the frame, I cut a smaller, 7 1/2" mat, to layer underneath. Cutting with a straight-edge and exacto blade gives me more precise control, so I can make the corners and edges clean and sharp.
Mats and frames are a great way to add interest without adding bulk. To finish off my nautical album cover, I layered the center with some Noteworthy diecuts and small, flat brads.
For my two-page spread, I incorporated this frame idea in a smaller size, this time using foam adhesive to add dimension. I cut a 4x6" piece of card stock, and then used the same technique above, to cut a 3/8" thick frame.
I love the look of little clusters of tucked-in embellishments, and the new layered die cut oars were perfect photo captions.
And here's a look at my two-page spread in its entirety. Since this is the first two-page spread in this new album, I created a full-page traditional layout for the left side, and filled in a pocket-page for the right-side page.
