Getting Festive for the Fourth!

Hi There BoBunny Fans :)

With tomorrow being July 4th I thought I would share with you some party decor using the Firecracker collection!

4th July Party Decor by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Firecracker

I've created my table decor using the red white and blue papers from the collection - double pinwheels, wooden letters and stars, and an altered spool, with some red and white lollies :)

I've made my pinwheels with a 6x6" piece of paper for the base and the top pinwheel being 4x4" before finishing them off with using some of the layered chipboard pieces.

You can see how dimensional they are from this side view.

The letters and stars are MDF - I've painted the sides and layered paper over top, then inked the edges with the Blueberry ink pad.  On the stars I was thinking I would be clever and paint them all over with glitter paste.  It worked well with Sugar glitter paste, but I got a bit carried away on the Ruby Red paste, making it too thick and it buckled my paper :(  so the moral of that story is less is more!

I get quite a lot questions about glitter paste, particularly the Ruby Red, because it looks purple in the pot but as you can see it really is red :)

My little spool is made from a toilet roll.  I've decorated it with a mixture of layered chipboard, blossoms, ribbon, brads, and some die cutting.

To my fellow DT girls - thank you for all your encouragement and support, you are amazing!

Take A Hike Down Under!

Hi There BoBunny Fans :)

Today is Party Day!! and I've teamed up Double Dot and Take a Hike to give you party ideas with a smidgen of a NZ twist! ;)

Double Dot & Take a Hike Party by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny

There's always sweet treats at parties but why not put a quirky hiking theme to them?  Like chocolate peanuts could be bear poop ;)  but in NZ I found huhu grubs at the lollie shop :)  Perfect for my party seeing as their indigenous to NZ and found in dead logs, easy to find when you take a hike ;)

First up, goody bags! So why not backpacks?!  I've used different colours and ranges of Double Dot Cardstock to make mine, using brads from the collection to co-ordinate and some misc. matching ribbon.

Marvelous Mixed Media Layout!

Hi There BoBunny Fans :)

Today I wanted to share with a mixed media layout using Take a Hike.

In the Southern Hemisphere we are heading into winter so the autumnal colours of this collection were perfect to scrap this photo of my wee fella Dougal romping around our back yard :)

Dougal by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Take a Hike

To create the foundation for my background I have ripped the edges of three sheets of paper and then adhered them to my base piece of Take a Hike.

Dougal by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Take a Hike

Here you can see the dimension of the long cluster. I've only applied adhesive to part of the banner so that I can curl the tips of the banner and give it a bit more oomph :)  After die cutting out all the leaves I used the die as a stencil and ink over the back of the die, onto the paper so that the leaves had all their little creases and lines which helps make them a little more real and defined.

A smaller cluster to the side of the photo ties the whole layout together :)

This close up shows you the different mixed media colours I've used.  I used the script stencil from the Brocade set, colouring the texture paste with gold glimmer spray, giving a creamy effect.  I created the darker green splatters by mixing Frost and Mint sprays with a drop of Bronze.  This was splattered randomly over the page as well as more splats of gold and bronze.  Some random stamping with my favourite stamps finished it off :)

Thanks for popping by today!

Fabulous Firework Layout!

Hi BoBunny Fans :)

Today I wanted to share with you a layout using the new Firecracker collection :)  Its themed around the 4th of July and fireworks but I love how you can use any collection for any purpose regardless of theme :)  I mean would you have thought a layout would work using spring photos with Firecracker??

This wee dude is just the cutest wee boy :)

I have used lots of layers to build up my photo and embellishments.  Some pieces, like the chipboard frame, are cut in half to make them go further, which in turn allows the page to flow better.  Curling the ends of banners gives a bit more dimension as well.  I love how a mixture of chipboard, papers and blossoms brings the whole layout together :)

To help blend the background into the photo and embellishments Ive used glitter paste and a stickable stencil before doing some random stamping.

Thanks for popping by today :)

1 Layout 3 Ways with Secret Garden!

Hi There BoBunny Fans :)

Today I wanted to show you a layout using the gorgeous purplelicious Secret Garden :)  in three different styles.

Sometimes I feel like my projects just aren't done.   Even when I think they're finished I can still look at them and think they still need something but can't decide what.  And sometimes in those situations I might leave it alone for awhile, and then go back to it.  I had one of those moments with this layout.

1 layout 3 ways by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Secret Garden

To start with, I cut out a selection of circles from the Greenhouse paper and arranged them from top to bottom along my base piece of paper.  This version could be finished as it is.  But lets go a bit further :)

1 layout 3 ways by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Secret Garden

I decided I wanted to carry on with my circle theme, so I cut some of the gold circle rubons out and applied those.  I then added some Grape Glitter Paste using a Stickable Stencil.  This gave a bit more interest and flow to the page but I thought it needed something more.

1 layout 3 ways by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Secret Garden

In the last version, I added some word stickers and outlined them in black pen, layering one of them with chipboard.  I also added chipboard to the circular die cut and under the photo, which has given the page much more depth and interest.

1 layout 3 ways by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Secret Garden

Now I really thought this layout was finished.  But I kept looking at thinking it just wasn't popping, so I went back to it.  What really springs to mind is those circles looked like they were blending into the paper not popping out.  So my final step?  Outlining the paper circles in a black fine tip marker! Simple but effective!  And now Im happy :)

Toy Box Frame & Decor!

Hi BoBunny Fans :)

Today I wanted to show you a table decor idea using Toy Box and Orange Glitter Paste!  They match each other so well :)  I also had a go at using the crackle paste and primer OM Goodness it is so easy!

Baby Love by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using Orange Glitter Paste and Toy Box Collection

The first part of this was the frame.  I had picked this up in a bargain bin, and it was ugly!!  To transform it into something a sight more interesting I applied gesso first to get rid of the ugly pattern that was there.  I then applied the primer and when dry applied the crackle paste.  I left it over night to make sure it was dry and it crackled perfect!  It's super easy, either follow the directions on the packet or watch the YouTube Blip :)  you can't go wrong!

I fussy cut some of the nursery rhyme characters and popped some of them up with chipboard, layering them amongst brads and blossoms.

The second part of my table decor is this duo of wooden hearts.  I just painted over the surface with the Orange Glitter Paste, which was perfect for taking away the starkness of the white. Some alpha stickers were used to spell his name, and I picked out one of the silver rubons from the Sentiments set for the other heart.

The cute little duck was part of one of layered chipboard pieces - I have gently lifted her off and attached her to my wooden heart.

The cubes were super easy to decorate, just cut out all those blocks from the Imagine piece of paper :)

Wall Decor & Card with Believe!

Hi Everyone!

Today I have two little mixed media projects to share with you that uses the new Believe collection and the very cute new Icons Stamps :)

Believe Collection & Icon Stamps Project by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny

My first project to share with you is a wall hanging.

I've taken two elements from the chipboard set and layered these on top of the packaging from the buttons! The packaging from this particular collection already had a mixed media look to it so I simply added to it by splattering white gesso and Mint Glimmer Spray. Using a few of the Icons stamps finished off the background of my project :)

I've created depth by layering chipboard - there's actually six layers to this project!  I've also given the butterflies a little glitz using the Sugar Glitter Paste.

My second project is a birthday card.  This time I dry brushed gesso over the back ground paper and then added glitter paste with the new Flower Power stickable stencil.

The Icon pieces that I used I simply stamped and then die cut, adding chipboard underneath to make them pop.  I've also coloured the present in using pearlescents :)

I love how this card reminds me of the 70's - :)  thanks for popping by!

March Blog Sketch Challenge!

Hi BoBunny Fans :)

Today is Sketch Challenge Day!! :)  and we have a real treat for you today!  This months sketch is designed by our very own Lynn Shokoples!!!

March 2016 BoBunny Sketch Challenge by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using the Soiree Collection & Postale Stamps

I've used the sketch with the lovely new Soiree Collection and the new Postale Stamps to create this layout of my great nephew - isn't he the cutest?!

March 2016 BoBunny Sketch Challenge by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using the Soiree Collection & Postale Stamps

To give the background a bit of oomph I've roughly painted it with two shades of pearlescents - Butterscotch and Graphite.  I wanted a muted background, enough that you could still see it but not so much that it took over from the design or photo, and pearlescents are perfect for this.

March 2016 BoBunny Sketch Challenge by Megan Gourlay for BoBunny using the Soiree Collection & Postale Stamps

I've used a number of the stamps from the Postale set to create a collage effect behind my papers and embellishments.  I used the  Licorice ink pad but I wanted a more muted color, like grey instead of black because otherwise the stamps would take over the page.  To achieve this I inked my stamp up as usual and then stamped onto a piece of scrap paper, then straight onto my page.

BoBunny packaging is brilliant for using in your projects, it ties in with each range, so its the perfect match!
