Stamping, Steciling, and Spraying Oh My! Tutorial

This fun photo tutorial will show you how to combine stamping, stenciling, spraying and embellishing on canvas! With BoBunny mixed media your options are endless!

Hello everyone! Kaori here to share my Tutorial using Stencils.

I used this heart shaped canvas. I began by painting white Gesso to the canvas.

After drying the paint with heat tool, I use this "Written Stamp".

 

 

I added some stamping to the background.

 

I applied modeling paste over the stencils. This stencil is "Stickable", so we will be able to keep it in place on the canvas or paper.

 

 

 

 

Once the modeling paste has dried, add some mists. I used TUTU and GOLD Mists by BoBunny.

 

 

Finally, adhering the embellishments.

Frantic Stamper is one of the oldest online craft supply retailers, serving paper crafters all over the world since 1996.  "I'm so in love with the new Prairie Chic collection, that distressed blue/white brocade design grabbed me immediately! I kept the layout fairly simple, a photo in the center surrounded by the BB blooms and bling and then just added peeks of the denim paper on the edges."

 "I cut one of the 4" Doilies in half and placed it on each side of the photo. I then used a black pen to draw an outline around various parts of the doily pattern.
To make the most of the Jewel Flourishes, I trimmed the Glaze Jewels into smaller pieces and tucked them in with the blossoms."

I took one blossom from the Orange Pansy package and took it apart. I used the petals as balloons and Stamped the strings with the Smoochable stamp set.

Tip: The background was a little empty for my taste. I took the "Celebrate text stamp" (from the Ad Lib Collection) and stamped birthday text in different colors to go with the birthday theme / balloons. )

 Gabi says: "Do you ever do a project and at the end feel like you really enjoyed it? 

This is one of those projects! I just thoroughly enjoyed working with the new 

Bo Bunny blooms and I loved the colors as well."

 Designer Tip: "Choosing a limited or monochromatic color base helps make a layout look more cohesive and 'put together'. Here I chose a couple of the patterned papers from the Apple Cider collection that had the soft greens/yellows in them and added in a piece of Double dot paper in a neutral tone (Almond Dot). Then I chose my floral embellishments in the same shades (greens/butter yellows). I find this also helps me when choosing what embellishments to use on a page.

Another little tip: Here I used a word stamp 'Cherish' ...stamped it to the page and then 

used a coordinating color of DMC floss to stitch in the letters, following the stamped image...

this helps give the page a more 'homespun' look."

 Julie says: "I love the concept of Field Trip Friday! A year ago, you could have told me to make a card, and I would have laughed at you! I was NOT a card maker! Couldn't fathom working on something that small! lol! Now, I make cards and everything else in between. When I thought about this challenge, I thought, what haven't I done? What will stretch my artistic side? And the answer came pretty easily, make something altered with a wood base! I have walked through local craft stores, always admiring the bare wood home decor items, but NEVER bought one! I never could get the nerve to do one! I can alter ANYTHING, but these items always evaded me. So I decided to buy TWO items for this challenge from my craft store and alter them with the beautiful Bo Bunny papers!"

Designer Tip: When altering wood items, I suggest painting them first! That way any items you don't cover in paper will still have color that will work with your theme!

"Next, I have a wooden oar I bought and used the ever FUN Camp-A-Lot papers on! This was so much fun to make! I painted it yellow, and then found out that Bo Bunny's rub-ons work PERFECTLY on wood!!"

 Designer Tip:
Using rub-ons on wood is even easier than paper! If the wood is smooth (and mine was, even before painting it), then just hold the rub-ons just like you do for paper and rub them on! Easy peasy and they look awesome on the wood!

Designer Tip: On this layout I wanted the stamped clocks to be the main embellishments on my layout. To make sure they really catch the eye, I stamped them on a piece of a paper, cut them out and then layered them using foamtape. I added a few circles that I cut out from the Country Garden 'Glimpse' paper, a banner and three fussy cut butterflies to finish off my layout. As you can see, you don't need many pre-made embellishments to achieve an embellished look. A few cut out and stamped images will do too.

This is a great tip from Romy!  Just sayin'... I tried to google translate the title, and it must be a dutch saying cuz the literal translation is " 2 hands on 1 belly."  So Romy, will you tell us what it means and where the saying comes from pretty please???

Card Kit Personified

 I love how easy it is to add to the card kits.

You can make them as simple or as complicated as you want.

I also love that the stamps coordinate so well with the line.

 It's so awesome what a little embossing powder, charm and fiber does to a card.

Designer Tip: To add a little exta to the Serenity card kit I added stamping with the coordinating stamps from the Serenity line. I embossed them with ultra thick gold powder to give the cards more texture and to make the stamping stand out from the rich colors of the paper.

I hope that song is stuck in your heads like it is mine now... ha ha
