Interviews!

Hi, Howdy & Hello friends!
Happy Friday
Can you believe it's August already????
Where does the time go?

Let me tell you about today's blog post...

The assignment was to scrapbook an interview you've had with someone.
(not like a job interview... just a fun conversation worth remembering)

For example, weeks after 9-11 we drove around our community and took pictures
of the different signs & flags & support that was given to the country.
At the time, my boys were 9 and 7.

So I asked them what they thought about what had happened
to which my 9 year old replied with...
"It scares me that so many people died, and are they
going to attack our city? I'm sad for all the families who are alone."
(He really was so concerned and really wanted to talk about the events quite a bit)

Then, I asked my 7 year old what he thought about it... to which he replied...
"When are they going to be done showing the news during cartoon time!"

There ya have it! Priceless....
after all my fabulous mothering,
the kid was just concerned about the dang cartoons.
ha ha ha

Here is Romy's layout...
(I love the relationship Romy has with her family, it shows in every layout, mini album and project she makes!  I love that you can tell so much about a person through their scrapbooks.

Romy Veul

Romy says: "My journaling is a conversation of me and my dad during our vacation to Vienna. I am sometimes driving my dad a little crazy with all the photos I take. We can barely walk a few minutes without stopping for a photo moment.
The journaling is in Dutch and says:
"Wait a moment, I gotta take a photo here"
"Hm, is there anything special to photograph here?"
"No, I mean I want to take a photo of you"
"Oh, what do I have to do on the photo?"
"Well, just act as if you are looking at the stairs"
"Hmmm, alright"

Designer Tip: You don't always have to use themed collections for the specific theme that they are actually meant for. For example the wintery collection 'Snowfall' also works pretty well for a serene layout with a summer photo on it.

Can you stand it??  I absolutely love it!

(Romy... your dad is the best! For that matter, so are you.
I love your layout, your journaling, your style and the tip!)

Designer tip: Don't worry about what color your chipboard pieces are, just grab some paint and glimmer mist and you can make it match whatever project you want!

How fun, I love hearing toddlers views on life!

Thanks for hanging out today you guys!
If you have a minute....leave us a comment on a fun interview you've had
and then go scrap it.

Quick & Easy 2 page layouts and more!

Today's post is LOADED!!

First of all we have some awesome 2 page layouts for you!
(okay...only 2 - 2 page layouts!  gggrrrrrrrr.... mine is sitting on my counter
top, so I DON'T forget to take it to work to scan)

A whole lotta good it's doing us there.  Sorry :(

And I'm sad cuz I used fun pictures at the beach in Cali when a couple
of my friends and I took a road trip
and I was able to play with the new DETOUR collection.

I'm over it and moving on....
(but make sure to read all the way to the end... cuz there's more)

Today's formula for our layouts is:

4 patterned papers
1-2 pieces Double Dot cardstock
2 embellishment packs of your choice

Hummingbird Festival
Juliana Michaels

Designer Tip:
The tabbed piece of paper contains my journaling
about what I learned when I went to this festival.
This is a great way to include journaling when you have a lot to say
or if you want to keep it more private.

Create your own dimensional flowers from cardstock
stickers or by fussy cutting like flowers
from patterned paper and layer them with double sided foam tape.

You can further embellish them by using Jewels as the center of the flower. For more details on how I created the flowers please visit my blog: 17turtles
How to use the left overs:

1. Create another layout by adding another full 12 x 12 sheet of paper and using the left over pieces of patterned paper and cardstock.
2. Fussy cut more flowers to use on cards or another layout.
3. The extra stickers will certainly create another layout.
4. Use the jewels to embellish the left over stickers and use them on a card or layout.

 Bo Bunny Supplies:

Patterned Papers: Bubbles, Doodles, Wish/ Alora
(I used 2 of Bubbles)
Cardstock: Double Dot in Poppy Dot
Jewels: Alora
Stickers: 12 x 12 Combo Sticker/ Alora

Robbie Herring

 Designer Tips:
1.    When choosing papers, be sure to consider both sides. The Apple Cider Journey paper has some really great shapes on the front side, and a plaid on the back side. I cut the shaped piece in the upper left side, the apple, the upper scalloped border and the word smile from the front side. The plaid on the back made the perfect print for layering punched flowers.

2.    Another way I used the backside was to choose the Apple Cider Dot paper. It had a nice word print that I used to help center my design and a dark dotted backside to punch a border and use for the back layers of my punched flowers.

3. Don't forget the packaging! In addition to using the layered chipboard for added dimension around my page, I also used the packaging to punch out leaves for my flowers.

4. Pull out your old scalloped scissors and use them to cut a contrast border around select pieces. I used mine to cut the scalloped border around the shaped piece.

 Left Overs:
1. I have a LOT of the combo stickers left over. I will be using both the alphabets, borders and other shapes on future layouts. Those stickers go a LONG way and are such a great embellishment to buy to help stretch your supplies.

2. I also have quite a bit left of the Coffe Dot Cardstock. I keep a file folder for all my Double Dot Paper scraps. It will go into that folder to be used when I need accents.
Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Papers: Apple Cider Collection-Apple Cider, Apple Cider Bounty, Apple Cider Dot and Apple Cider Journey
Cardstock: Double Dot in Coffe Dot
Layered Chipboard: Apple Cider
Stickers: 12 x 12 Combo Sticker/ Apple Cider

Now... for our next item of business...
It's a sad and a happy day.

We have love, love, loved having our fabulous guest designer Julie
play along with us all summer!  She has been amazing and exceeded any expectations we had.
I seriously don't know how she does it... she is so on top of things and is such a wonderful mom and wife and we have thoroughly enjoyed having her.
(And lucky for us... she has been playing and commenting and facebooking
with us for a long time and we're not really losing her...)

We love you Julie!  Thanks for playing.

And now....
We would like to introduce our next guest designer:

Lynn Shokoples
(and Jax and Daisy)

Hi Everyone! My name is Lynn Shokoples and I live  in Alberta Canada. It's a honor to be a guest designer at Bo Bunny. I've been scrapbooking since the beginning of time when all there was available was some paper, pens and scalloped rulers. I started my first baby album in 1992. Let's just say my style has evolved since then. I love to try new techniques and go between a shabby style to cute and fun layouts.  I've been a Bo Bunny fan right from the start and will admit to stashing some of eachcollection for that "special layout".   When I'm not scrapbooking, I'm a wife and a  mom to two wonderful young adults Nicole 24 and Ryan 20, a new son-in-law Christopher. I'm also a new mom to two rambunctious Goldendoodle puppies. Keeps my life interesting! I'm excited to be a part of this amazingly talented group of ladies whom I've admired for years, so thank you Bo Bunny!

Thank you Lynn... we can't wait for you to play!!!

How to cluster...

Do you ever wonder how to cluster embellies on your layout?
How many are just the right quantity and size and color?

Maybe you are even thinking... "What is clustering?"
Clustering is a design technique where you cluster a set of embellishments together
to draw the eye in to a focal point.

Today the girls will give you some great examples
and tips on how to make the perfect clusters!

Debbie Sherman
Debbie said: "One of my favorite techniques is to cluster my embellishments. In this case I cut out 5 stars from the Falling Stars patterned paper and overlapped them on top of one another. I popped them up with foam squares which made clustering them on top of each other much easier."
TIP: In design, odd #'s are more interesting to the eye than even numbers.  Use 3 and 5 as your go to #'s in design and you'll be surprised at the difference it can make.
 Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Camp-A-Lot Falling Stars, Camp-A-Lot, Squares, Fireflies
Starry Night, Cut Outs, Dot

Endless Fun In the Sun
Carin McDonough
TIP : When adding a cluster to your page use foam dots on the some of your items. This makes them easier to cluster together and adds more dimension to your cluster.
TIP: Stacking and layering are so important when making clusters.
You want to make sure you have a variety of colors, textures & heights.
Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper : Hello Sunshine, Busy Bee, Stripe, Sweetness, Daydream, Cut Outs, Little Things, Sweet Pea/Hello Sunshine
6x6 Paper Pad: Hello Sunshine
Chipboard : Hello Sunshine 12x12 Chipboard
Stickers : Lazy Day Cardstock Sticker/Hello Sunshine
Jewels : Hello Sunshine
Carin said: "I also did a diagram to show measurements for how I cut my sun rays, it will even give you two sets of rays! The shaded areas are the ones I used."

Super Star
Jolanda Meurs
Jolanda says: "I love to cluster my embellishments . I also have made a cluster off my pictures."
 Bo Bunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Dot, Falling Star, Squares/Camp-A-Lot
Jewels: Camp-A-Lot
Buttons: Camp-A-Lot
Combo Stickers: Hello Sunshine, Camp-A-Lot

You Are My Son Shine
Tara Orr
TIP: When making clusters, use repetition.
If you are using a circular item, use other circular items throughout the layout.
In this layout, Tara has used flowers for her repeating element.

Don't be afraid to try the clustering technique... it might take a few tries,
but once you get it... it's so addicting.
Make sure to layer, lift, tuck and repeat and you'll be great!!!
Don't forget to show us your version of clustering.
You guys ROCK!!!
