BoBunny August Mood Board Inspiration - Mini Album Video Tutorial

We continue our BoBunny August Mood Board Inspiration week with a tutorial by Designer Lisa Novogrodski. She made a mini album using a unique combination of BoBunny collections and is sharing a video tutorial on how she created it.

This was probably one of the most fun projects I have ever created! The mood board this month was so inspiring my imagination simply took off! I pulled the color theme of my project from the board- focusing on the purple, blue and white. The "You Are My Sunshine" pillow inspired me to incorporate Zip A Dee Doodle along with Enchanted Garden. I wanted a "Happy" "Fun" project theme and photos to pull it all together. I show you how to put this little mini album together below in my video tutorial.

I've created this Accordion Fold album with lots of little pockets for you to tuck in tags, tickets, photos and journaling. I've used the tags for my "Photo Mats" and also for journaling spots. You just have to love little pockets. This type of project can be used not only for "scrapbooking" but you could create one and do art journaling on your tags and have an artsy little file to store them in.

I was also inspired by the doilies in the mood board and I incorporated some in most of my tags. I chose a Spellbinder Die to mimic a "frame" shape picking up on that beautiful blue frame in the mood board. The clock and globe prompted me to use Kraft style tags as my base. I like the "earthy" appeal mixed with the feminine blues and purples.

Scrapbooking is a great hobby because it gives you a chance to show off your other hobbys or interests. Me and my Girls are also fashion crazy and when we have a chance to see local places with handmade dresses we will always go for it.

 

I have over 100 dresses in my wardrobe but she is catching up with me. On the photo from my project you can see many dresses in the mini shop on the beach.

I used several collections to create my page, like Primrose, The Avenues, Modern Miss and Happy Tails but also older ones like Zip-A-Dee-Doodle. All the dresses from the photo made me do it.

I like to stitch on my pages and it's a very first thing I start working on , the very next step is fun with gesso.

I really loved working with this collection Pop Quiz! What lovely color combinations to choose between!



On this layout I chose the light teal, black, grey, mustard and white.

At first I used some different mediums on the background paper, gesso, Distress ink pad and mist. Then I picked out the perfect papers from the collection.

I think the mustard colored embellishments makes the layout to pop! What a cool color to add to the grey, black and white!

I choose a doily and wood as the trends to use on my card. The reason I like a doily and wood is they give a soft and natural impression. I also think that the doily and wood suits the Pincushion collection very well.

I love watercolor, and I could not stop using this trend. On this card, I used doilies, gold and hearts. I applied a little acrylic gesso and I cleaned it with a baby wipe. After I used watercolor and I spilled some water on it. I applied golden paste on the butterfly's resin.

I love feathers, but I haven't used them as much as I wanted to. Now when I got the chance, I paired them with wood and gold. And a piece of the cool Zip-A-Dee Doodle paper. I have used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the feathers and the frame.

Mix and Match Scrapbook Pages 2

We continue our Mix and Match Week here on the BoBunny blog with more scrapbook pages. Today, Denise and Maryia really show you how to mix it up. Denise used five different collections and Maryia used nine. Now that is mixing and matching for sure!

Beauty by Denise van Deventer

I used a combination of Zip-A-Dee-Doodle, Pincushion, Head Over Heals,Woodland Winter and Fright Delight collections.Can you believe that?! I made sure that I incorporated black, as I needed to ground my photo on the various patterned papers.  The black also adds to the slightly grungy, yet shabby feel.

I made some flowers with die-cuts and instead of using leaves, I used some wool, which was rather thready. It added a different texture to the page, which I loved.

Since a large percentage of this layout was created with Pincushion, I thought it would be a nice touch to include some sewing, so I sewed my buttons to the page.

I've been wanting to make some neutral decor for the music practice area in our home, so when I saw this musical-notes paper (Woodland Winter - Cozy), it was a perfect start.  Mixing & matching products from different collections has always been one of my favorite ways to create, so I got right to work.  I sifted through all the gorgeous products from Woodland Winter, Pincushion, and Head Over Heels, to find neutral products with a vintage vibe.

Designer's Tip:  When working with a monochromatic project, look for patterns in different scales & motifs to give the project contrast.  I used this idea on my project by placing the larger-scale floral in between the layers of diagonal stripes & music notes.

I love the beautiful variety of neutral embellishments that BoBunny offers.  The fabric, chipboard, buttons, and doilies add so much texture and dimension to this shadowbox decor piece.

Love Gift Box by Romy Veul

It's usually the more bright papers that get my attention first, but this time around I decided to go for a less bright and happy and more masculine colour palette when making a gift box for Valentine's Day for my boyfriend. To make this gift box I combined two different collections: Zip-a-Dee-Doodle and Head Over Heels. The black and white papers from the Head Over Heels collection matchthe papers from the Zip-a-Dee-Doodle collection perfectly. I found that the hint of blue in the Zip-a-Dee-Doodle papers and embellishments added just the perfect amount of colour.

The layered chipboard stickers are actually my favourite embellishments from Bo Bunny. I often go for an even more layered look by stapling different stickers on top of each other, just like I did with the banner, the heart and the arrow on top of this gift box. I absolutely loved this chipboard heart sticker and have been waiting for the perfect occassion to use it. I figured that by layering it on top of other stickers I could turn it even more into a real eye-catcher on my gift box.

Designer Tip: When working with different collections, it can be very helpful to first select all papers and embellishments that you want to work with and to decide which colour combination you want to use. If you already have an idea in mind, it becomes much easier to mix and match collections on an altered item.

Mix and Match Scrapbook Pages

BoBunny always creates amazing collections and we all love how perfectly everything coordinates! It makes creating so quick and easy. However, did you know that many of their collections are perfect for mixing with other collections? Our theme these week on the blog is Mix and Match and we are going to show you how easy this is to do. Today, Tracee and Rhonda have each created a scrapbook pages with a mix of different BoBunny collections. The number of different collections that they have each mixed and matched together is seriously amazing! Can you name them all?

Everyday Heroes by Tracee Provis

I knew I wanted to create a masculine layout, so I pulled elements from five different collections. I used Pincushion, Woodland Winter, Zip Dee Doodle, Elf Magic and Kraft to show off this great photo of the Everyday Heroes, aka the men in my life, my Husband, my Son and my Son in-law.

I usually lean towards a light colour or white background, but this Handmade paper from the Pincushion collection has a slightly distressed look and made a great darker background that makes the other papers pop off the page.
In the Kraft collection Gift Bags you also get a sheet of 6 patterned circles I added one along the banner to create a journaling spot.

I used a variety of stickers from different collections. The days of the week are from the Christmas collection, Elf Magic and the others from Zip Dee Doodle. I used a black ink pad and dabbed over the chipboard alphabet from the Avenues collection, this left a small amount of the original colour to make a contrasting edge to the letters. The Kraft Gift Bag has a fun moustache design and I also used it to create a pocket for some hidden journaling.

Cupcake Love by Rhonda Van Ginkel

I used some Double Dot and pattern papers from The Avenues, Woodland Winter and Zip-A-Dee Doodle collections. The fun photos are from a cupcake date that I took our oldest on and as you can see, he more than enjoyed his special treat!

The chipboard arrows are from Woodland Winter, the alpha and love sticker is Zip-A-Dee Doodle.

The chipboard clouds are from Zip-A-Dee Doodle, the bird from The Avenues.  I used quite a bit of Noteworthy items and stickers here. The large Woodland Winter bracket sticker on the left is tucked under some Noteworthy and fussy cut Zip-A-Dee Doodle Collage paper.

I used a glassine bag to hold my ticket from Woodland Winter and also cut one of my little clouds from it.  You'll notice a flag layer of vellum under my flags to the right of the photo strip. I just love how all of the BoBunny collections coordinate so beautifully!!!

Made With Love Note Board by Lynn Shokoples

This was a fun project to make. I started with a blank canvas for the background. After gluing the pattern paper on, I made a pocket with the flower paper so I could tuck some note cards and photos in the pocket. The buttons made the perfect centers for my blossoms. I made a little tack board out of some corkboard and glued some of the buttons on tacks I had at home so you could pin anything you wanted to the board. I chose some photos of the kids when they were small because this is a gift for my Mom's birthday.

The noteworthy pieces and stickers were just the right elements to finish my canvas.

The hard part was choosing which Blossoms to use for my project. There are so many different ones to choose from. I thought I would add a variety of them to add a focal point to the canvas.

Blossoms Printer's Tray by Juliana Michaels

BoBunny's Blossoms are so much fun to play with, especially for home decor type projects. This printer's tray has been in my stash for quite some time, waiting for just the right moment. I went through my Blossoms and selected a rainbow of colors from the Pansy Blossoms.  To fill the background of the tray, I measured and then cut the Woodland Winter Journal paper into 12 pieces. A variety of Stickers, Chipboard, Layered Chipboard and Wood pieces were used decorate each piece. I even cut some of the stickers and chipboard pieces to be able to place them in adjacent openings.

I created the leaves for the flowers from mulberry paper that I purchased at my local craft store and cut them using a metal die. To add a little more sparkle, I applied glitter glue to some of the chipboard and stickers pieces.

Happy Blooms Basket by Kaori Fujimoto

For my project, I created a flower basket. I created the basket using the Zip-A-Dee-Doodle collection and then filled the basket with Denim Daisy Blossoms. After I created the flower basket, I placed a small square box in the bottom to help fill the space. I then adhered the Blossoms using Glue Dots. I finished it by adding a pretty ribbon to the handle.

Misc Me Calendar (Avenues Organizer) by Evgenia Petzer

This time I decided to use Misc Me as a simple planner for 2014. Because I plan to carry it with me in a bag, I left the cover with its natural look. And you will see further down, I really kept it simple. I mean REALLY. SIMPLE.

I love that you can also buy the pages as simple notepads and it provides you with lots of space to write.

These dividers have fabulous pockets in them.

And the files will work perfectly for me to keep my bills and other stuff that I need to carry around.

I love the months' dividers and for now I assembled it like that, but I plan to go through the used papers after each month is finished and to throw some away, so I will still have space for new months to come.
