Misc Me

Lynn's been busy keeping up on her 365 photo challenge like a pro,
and today we get to see her May Misc Me calendar.

Misc. Me
Lynn Shokoples
"Can you believe it's the end of June? Here where I live we went from snow on the ground to +30C wearing shorts and flip flops. I think we missed spring!
For this month I chose the "Family Is" collection for my album. The sayings just made me smile all day. Such a fun collection."
It's always fun to choose my favorite photos for the month and I love decorating all the pockets. The patterned papers have cut outs that fit perfectly in the slots!
A few jewels, a few stickers and my album pages are complete. Such a fun project.

A Pocket Full of Kisses
I went a little different way for my page, I went with the title of one of Meagan's and my favorite books when she was a preschooler, "A Pocket Full of Kisses" This book by Audrey Penn and another one called 'The Kissing Hand" were 2 books that really helped her through the first month of Junior Kindergarten. It's a story about a mother raccoon that helps her little shy baby by placing a kiss in her palm and telling her that whenever she finds herself getting nervous at school, she should bring her palm to her face and tell herself 'Mama loves you".

In keeping with the idea of books, I made a pocket on the page (a denim pocket from one of her old pairs of pants) and made a whole bunch of flower stems with the names of some of her favorite books (Goodnight Moon, I Love You Stinky Face, I'll Love you Forever....etc.) and their authors and attached a BB bloom at the top of each 'stem'....then tucked all the blooms in the pocket. Now she'll have a keepsake of all her favorites to share with her babies when she grows up.

Below is a close-up of the blooms in the pocket and the next photo shows one of the stems pulled out.

Designer Tip: When using embellishments, group them together and where possible use groups of three- this helps to create balance and another rule a very dear scrapping friend taught me... "if you use it once, use it twice!" If you look closely at my layout you will see that I have done this in numerous ways using buttons and brads. I've repeated colours and patterns and sizes.
BoBunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Mischief, Fun, Love / Family Is.., Banners/Love Letters
Chipboard: 12" Family is..
Blossoms: Denim Blue Daisy, Denim Blue Bouquet

What book inspires you?

"I hope where you are it's Spring , but here where I live in Canada, it's still winter! I chose to use the Powder Mountain collection this month in honor of our crazy winter weather!
I'm really liking printing out the calendar from my phone and documenting what each photo was about. A few stickers from the Combo sticker sheet and I was all done.
I love all the cut out cards in this collection. It makes the pages come together so quickly. Now just take a peek at all that snow!!!
I used one of the larger cards and cut it in two pieces and placed them side by side. My doodles are truly wild about winter! Adding some stickers and jewels..and my month of Misc. Me is complete."

"I have decided to use mine to document our year month by month and so far I have only done January and February. I wanted to keep my album quite clean and simple so it will be quick and easy to do and I will keep up with it!
I haven't decided what I want to do with my month dividers yet so for the moment I have just left them blank.
I am going to try and keep it simple but I already see a few more details starting to creep in on my February page as it is just so fun, so I am not sure how long that will last! I was originally going to use a different collection for each month but in the end decided to just use whatever went with the photos on that page so I have used a mixture of collections and some of the cute little inserts that come with the Misc. Me packages."

Mix it up

One of the fun things about BoBunny's collections
is how well the colors in the lines match.  We try to make
sure we have 3 or 4 of our Double Dot colors in each collection.

This makes mixing it up kinda fun.
Our Design Team is fabulous at combining completely
different themed papers and making them coordinate with each other.

See if you can name the different collections BEFORE looking at
the supply list....

Layouts in under an hour

Sometimes you don't have a lot of time,
but you still want to get some scrapping in.

Today the girls have fun layouts they created in under an hour.
They have great tips for you too.

Click
Robbie Herring
Tips: Use several strips for your basic design. I just cut several varied sized strips of different lengths and widths and layered them. It's a quick and easy way to add lots of layers in a jiffy.
~Use pre-cut embellishments and shaped papers. The tags are from the Noteworthy package. I only had to distress them since they were ready to go!
~Don't forget that you can get the look of a stitched border by just piercing at the corners and
stopping spots. So quick and easy!

BoBunny Supplies:
Patterned Paper: Mama-razzi2 PhotoBooth, Strike a Pose, Focus, Shutterbug, View Finder, Tripod.
Dimensional stickers: Mama-razzi2
Noteworthy: Mama-razzi2
Brads: Mama-razzi2
Chipboard: Mama-razzi2

Bloom
Gabrielle Pollacco
Tip: This may seem like a layout that took over an hour to create, but it wasn't! My tricks?
~ First I started with a page design that I had created before and just followed the design for this page. For me what takes the longest is all the fussing about, moving pieces, deciding on what to put where....so using the a design that I created before really helps in cutting the time factor down.
~ Bo Bunny makes loads of amazing and beautiful coordinating embellishments that makes dressing up a page fast and easy! Chipboard, blooms, lace...all made to match your layout, just peel and stick!
~ and finally I gather together all the materials I'll need to make up my page, inks, paints, sewing machine, punches....and have them ready to go. So I don't spend a lot of time while I'm making my page look for stuff. Following a preset design helps make it easy to know what things you will need as well.
Extra Tip: Another time saving thing I like to do is when I'm just sitting and watching TV I'll take some Clover Green Double Dot paper and just punch a whole lotta leaf designs from it and keep them in a little baggie ready to go for when I'm making up a bloom cluster for a page)

Beautiful You
by Sam Wright
Designer tip: I used charcoal chalk ink to stamp my images because it gives a softer printed image. However, sometimes when using chalk ink with clear stamps, you are never quite sure whether you have inked the entire image, so I also place a piece of plain white paper under my perspex block, this helps to see any missed areas on the stamp.

Bo Bunny Supplies:
Double Dot: Shadow dot, Tutu dot
Patterned Paper: Felicity / Isabella
Stickers: Isabella Dimensional stickers
Chipboard: Isabella layered chipboard
Blossoms: Blush Dahlia
Doilies: small
Stamps: Flourishes & Such stamp, It is written stamp

Romy Veul
Designer Note: I used the stamps in several different ways on my lay-out. I stamped the written pattern and hexagons with embossing ink and then heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I also did some stamping with pink distress ink inbetween the embossed patterns. In the end I stamped the written pattern in black as well and cut this pattern out, to use it as a nice vintage touch on my lay-out.

Patterned paper: Becoming, Carissima, Divine, Eloquent/ Isabella
