Mix & Match Madness AND Ombre!!

Good Morning, I just love mixing and matching Bo Bunny Collections, today along with sharing my layout with you I am going to be showing you how I created my Ombre effect photo mat using Bo Bunny inks and Stencils.

First we need to start by gathering up our supplies

Explore Everyday Scrapbook Page Tutorial By Tracee Provis Bo Bunny Wildcard Souvenir 02

I stuck my stencil to a piece of cardstock that was slightly larger so that I could trim down the edges afterwards. I gathered my ink pads, a piece of cut and dry foam and a water spritzer bottle.

Explore Everyday Scrapbook Page Tutorial By Tracee Provis Bo Bunny Wildcard Souvenir 03

Taking the white inkpad I pressed down onto my craftmat a couple of times to get some ink onto it I then repeated the same with the Blueberry ink pad. A small tip, always take care to put your ink apart slightly on the mat as this will stop any cross contamination of the ink colours on your pads.

Spritz a little water onto both colours and then mix together, I used my finger but you can do this with a paintbrush. This will then give you your palest colour which using the sponge you then sponge onto the bottom part of your cardstock through the stencil.

Gradually adding more Blueberry ink and water continue sponging small sections of the stencil until you reach the top. When you peel back the stencil you will see a beautiful ombre effect, that is simple to achieve. You can then cut to size and use on your layout.

Mini Album Madness!

Hello Bo Bunny fans, it's Gabrielle here with you today to share with you my latest project using the Bo Bunny Souvenir collection and new Bo Bunny Glimmer Mists.

Travel Mini Album by Gabrielle Pollacco

Travel albumn by Gabrielle Pollacco using Bo Bunny chipboard album, papers, chipboard accents, stickers and Noteworthy die cuts from the Souvenir collection as well as Bo Bunny Blooms and Glimmer Mist

While I'm a scrapper that has created a large varieties of projects over the years, mini-albums is something that I've not often done.  You know how sometimes you have a bunch of photos from a trip or outing that you'd like to get scrapped?  Mini albums are the perfect solution.  And they don't come any easier that using one of the Bo Bunny mini's.  They already have beautiful background designs, all you have to do is get out your coordinating embellishments and some papers from a 6x6 paper pad (for matting), and you can quickly and easily put together a beautiful keepsake.

I love these pic's of my two daughters and their cousin the last time they were at their cottage.  They always have fun things to keep them busy.  I liked the vivid colors in the Souvenir collection, I thought they were a nice compliment to the photos.

My family cannot travel anywhere without taking detours to, check out a waterfall, or check out a little shop or street fair.  Takes us a while to get there but we have fun along the way.  Here I used some pre-cut die pieces from the coordinating Noteworthy set for Souvenir.

It's so nice that my brother's place is on the water, they can spend their time boating, wake-boarding, tubing, water skiing. The girls have so much fun with their cousin at the cottage...me?  I like to relax on the dock, soak in some sun and take the photos!

They also have a nice time when we are having rain and downtime.  Playing cards, games, watch movies, or just play games on their phones.  I used these to pages to add a little journaling.

Most of our little walks and outings as a family will end up in some cafe or little out of the way coffee shop.  Here I used some of the new Bo Bunny ink pads with a soft make-up sponge to create some background designs for behind my photos.  I love to add a little texture as well with some snippets of fabric/burlap.  Then add some Bo Bunny Jewels, buttons, stickers and blooms and your book is done!  I literally got this album done in one evening!

When I completed my album I used Bo Bunny's new Gold Glimmer Spray on all the blooms and embellishment clusters on the cover and throughout the album.  I love this stuff!  It adds a subtle yet magical tough to your page embellishments!

Sparkle and Shine!

It's time for a little bling this week! Who doesn't love a little extra sparkle?! Check out the marvelous Misc Me pages below to see how Jewels are a must have....anywhere!

Vacation In Bali Misc Me by Irene Tan

Hello BoBunny fans! It's me, Irene here again! When I'm given this particular assignment, I'm so excited and jumping in joy! Jewels has always been necessities in all my projects. I love how they make my projects sparkle.

Today, I would like to showcase how they could be use on your Misc Me pages. This time, I've used Souvenir Collection to create this two pages of 12 x 12.

How do you use jewels on Misc Me pages? Simple. Just add them to anything that you want a little sparkly effect. On my pages, I've added them to cut-outs or die-cut pieces. If you think they are too bulky to be inserted into the pockets, you can always add them outside the pockets.

Besides that, you can also add them to rub-ons, stamped images, stenciled images, chipboard, buttons and banner. This way, you can create some sparkly details on your embellishment too.

Adventure Scrapped!

What a great way to preserve those fabulous (and not so fabulous, but funny in hind sight) travel memories! Megan hits this one out of the park!

Our Trip 2014 by Megan Gourlay

Our Trip 2014 using Misc Me and Souvenir by Megan Gourlay

This year is the 50th anniversary of the FORD Mustang.  My husband happens to be FORD crazy! and so we apparently just had to head to America to be part of the celebrations.  How better to document that trip by using Misc Me! and Souvenir was just perfect to get me started.  I've used the stencils throughout in a few different ways.

The beginning of our trip started in San Francisco and we stayed at really delightful motel, it really was a gorgeous spot to relax after a day spent seeing all the sights.

Our Trip 2014 using Misc Me and Souvenir by Megan Gourlay

Here I wanted to blend my stencil colours to match my motel sign - this time I used blue and brown inks with a blending tool.  Ive also altered my Noteworthy by covering the original sign from saying cafe to Our Adventure by popping a sticker on top and mounting the motel sign behind the film strip.

On this page I wanted a subtle effect from using my stencils so I randomly used white texture paste in my background.

For the two 3x4 cards I've used Pearlescents Sugar to cover my stencil design, again giving me a subtle background, before layering with wash and chipboard embellishments.

My final page is part of the next section about Alcatraz.  Because the photo has a heritage feel to it I wanted the background paper to reflect that too, so I've used texture paste with two different stencils before painting over it with two Pearlescents and then randomly stamping.

I hope this has given you some ideas for creating backgrounds using stencils.  We do love seeing what you do with Misc Me so please keep sharing :)

Stickable Stencils! The best thing since....well...ever!

Stickable Stencils...have you tried them? You have got to if you haven't! I can't tell you how much fun they are...it's the kind of thing you need to try yourself! Today you can learn a little more about them with a tutorial!

You Are Here by Juliana Michaels

You Are Here Scrapbook Page by Juliana Michaels featuring BoBunny Souvenir Collection, Stickable Stencils and Double Dot Ink Pads

Hello BoBunny Fans! It's Juliana here with you today to share a quick and easy tutorial on how to use the fabulous new BoBunny Stickable Stencils with their new Double Dot Ink Pads. I really love that they are stickable. Once you position them, they won't move around as you apply your ink and when you are finished and ready to remove them, they will not damage your paper. It really makes stenciling super easy and fun!

In the video, I share with you how to create a background similar to the one that I used on my You Are Here scrapbook page. I love the nuances that are achieved by applying the Double Dot Ink to the paper. In some areas the ink is darker because I applied more ink and in other areas it is lighter. After completing the stenciled background design, I then began adding the rest of my design elements.

I used several pieces from the Souvenir Noteworthy as well as a couple of the Souvenir Layered Chipboard pieces. This collection is ideal for all of your vacation and travel layouts.

The orange and blue papers are from the new Double Dot Chevron collection. The Brilliant Blue Chevron perfectly matched the color of the ponchos that we wore as we tried to stay dry during our trip to Niagara Falls this past summer!

More Mixed Media Fun!

If you've ever been a little nervous to try mixed media, now is the time to do it! Our mixed media is so much fun, you won't want to miss out!

My Guy LAYOUT - Romy

Today it is my turn to show you a layout that I made using a mixture of different mixed media. I have to admit that I do not make mixed media lay-outs very often, because I'm often a bit scared that something will go wrong. But while I was working on this layout with the new glitter pastes, inks, stamps and sprays from BoBunny, I realized that working with mixed media is actually a whole lot of fun! They can give your layouts just that little bit extra and are also perfect for giving layouts a vintage twist.

On this layout I used the wonderful Wild Card and Souvenir collections and some mixed media to make a masculine layout about my boyfriend.

My Guy Scrapbook Page by Romy Veul using BoBunny Wild Card Collection

The mixed media accents on this layout are mainly in the corners of my layout. In each corner I did some stamping and used the Stickable Stencil 'Brocade' with the glitter pastes and gesso to create a nice pattern. I also sprayed with the Bronze glimmer spray for a glitter finishing touch.

I also used the Glimmer Sprays to add color to the wood embellishments, so they would match the colors of my layout better.

My Guy Scrapbook Page by Romy Veul using BoBunny Wild Card Collection 2

In the middle of my layout, I did some paper layering with papers in different colours and with different patterns. I also layered some chipboard pieces on top of each other and clustered them in the corners of my photo.

Wood Shapes: Iron Works, That's Life
Stickable Stencils: Brocade
Large Stamps: Geometric Patterns, Stained Textures

I hope I have inspired you to also take out your masks, glitter sprays, stamps and inks from Bo Bunny to work on your own mixed media lay-out. I promise you that it will result in a lot of fun and a wonderful project.

Have a great day!

Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial

This Souvenir canvas just screams 'Take me any where!' Take a look at some of the excellent tips for BoBunny's must have mixed media!

Wanderlust Mixed Media Canvas by Denise van Deventer

Hello Everyone!

It's Denise here today, to share with you, my mixed media tutorial.

Firstly, decide on your photo and the papers you are going to use. I chose the Souvenir Collection and a gorgeous photo that I had taken of a railway track that we had crossed on a weekend away a few months ago. I also went with a 30 x 30 cm canvas board for my base.

I took the stripey paper "On Board" from this collection and started tearing it up, in long strips, in different widths and lengths. The lengths were about 20-25 cm in length, to start off with.

I then started placing them down on the canvas, overlapping them and some I shortened as required.

Now I was ready to stick them down.  When I create mixed media pages, I really do stick down my papers well, as the paints and water can cause them to curl up.  Since these were uneven shapes I used craft glue and really did lather them well, as shown below.

I was then ready to start with my gesso and stencils.

These stencils are really so super because they are sticky and so stay where they are placed, but then can be pulled up, washed and re-used. I used an old credit card to smooth the gesso over the stencils.

I used the honeycomb and circle stencils first, as shown above, and then used the script stencil, as shown below.

I then took some of the number stencils and sort of filled in the gaps. I love that these are individual numbers, as they can be easily placed.

I then dried the gesso stencilling off, with a heat gun.  You could also let this dry naturally, but it then does take a little longer.  It is really important to make sure that the gesso is dry, before starting with the paints and waters.

I decided on some red acrylic paint, as well as the super new BoBunny Pearlescent "Island Mist" and "Chocolate". I had a little water spray handy too, as this is a must for water colouring. I got my "mess sheet" out here too and started working on that.

Before even starting with the paints, it is important to wet the area you want to colour, so that when you put a little paint down, that it already starts running and spreading in the water. I started with the red acrylic paint.

You can see how the paint already starts running, as you place a little amount, with a paintbrush, into the wet area.

Spray some more water directly into the little blob of paint and pick up your canvas to start allowing your paint to run. Tilt it from side to side, to get it to spread where you want it to go.  Add more water and paint as desired. I normally work on one area and then move onto the next. I dried these 2 areas off with a heat gun.  It is important to let the individual colors dry. Otherwise, they run into one another and you end up with a brown, awful color.

I used the "Island Mist" in the top left corner and the "Chocolate" in the right bottom corner and did the same water coloring technique here too. I now left this to dry completely.

I got out my new, yummy ink pads and an assortment of BoBunny stamps.

I randomly, stamped over the canvas, using a script stamp, a hexagon stamp, little bubbles stamp and then lastly with some arrow stamps.  When stamping randomly, I ink the stamp and use my hands and fingers to press it down, so that it gives an uneven stamped image.  However, when I stamped the arrows at the top and bottom of the canvas, I used a BoBunny acrylic block to give a solid image. I also then outlined my numbers with a black, fine point, koki pen.

I trimmed my photo to size, distressed the edges with some sandpaper and adhered some foam to the back of the photo for some lift. My photo is a 10 x 15 cm photo and the matting is 11 x 16 cm.

I matted the photo with "Sightseeing".

I got out some Licorice and Berry Double dot to mat a few elements and create layers, as with all the colors, the elements might have got lost in each other.

I got out all the stickers, buttons, chipboards, brads and noteworthy elements. This was really now where the fun was going to start!!

I cut a 9,5 x 15 cm Licorice block and a 9,5 x 13cm Berry block and cut out the postcard from the Waderlust paper. I played with the placing behind the photo, along with some chipboards, stickers and noteworthy elements on the canvas.  I kept the placing between the arrow stamps on the top and bottom and between the 3 and 7, left and right.  This kept everything nicely centered.

The licorice and berry blocks allowed for the photo to stand out and not be lost to the background.

Once happy with the placing, I stuck everything down.

TIP: Never stick right to the edges...always leave a cm or 2 around the edges, as this will then allow you to tuck things under later.

Being a girl who loves flowers, I wanted to add some Petals to this canvas.

I decided that the compass/sun chipboard was not going to work and so removed it.  This then allowed for the placing of the petals and leaves, on the left top corner of the photo.   I tucked the flower under this corner. The leaves are little die-cut leftovers from previous projects.  I used brads for the flower centres.  I also added more chipboard bits around the canvas.

To add the last touches to this canvas, I wanted to add some more stamping and used an acrylic block for these word stamps and stamped them in the top left corner and the bottom right hand corner. I added one more arrow stamp just above the vacation word too. The "Take Note" stamp was stamped onto plain cardboard and then just cut out and stuck onto the canvas.

I am still going to add a little journaling card behind my photo and then it will be completely finished.

I hope you enjoyed the tutorial and perhaps you will give it a try sometime.  Mixed media is super fun and there is never a right or wrong! One just goes with the flow!
