Step It Up

We have really enjoyed creating and showing how to Step It up here at Bo Bunny!
In fact, we liked it so much with layouts, we decided to do it with cards!

Some of the design team has made some great cards and then taken them to
the next level by Stepping It Up!

First up, we have Romy.

Oh Happy Day
Romy Veul

Romy has gone all out with her card and not only Stepped It Up, she's showing you step by step how to do it!

1) Use one of the cards from the card kit as a base for your card.
2) Cut several pieces of paper in different sizes from the papers in the mini paper pad. Ink the edges and position them on your card in the desired way.
3) Glue down two of the Noteworthy embellishments in the middle of your card.
4) Embellish your card with a few chipboard stickers, rub-ons and fussy cut clouds and planes. Rub the sentiment rub-on onto a strip of white paper and adhere them to your card using foamtape.

5) Finish off your card with a few jewels, glitter glue and liquid pearls.

Step It Up!

Are you interested in how to take a layout from simple to fabulous?  Today, Bo Bunny designers, Luzma and Michele share in detail how they each  a simple layout and took it to another level of design by adding more embellishments and ink/glimmer.

Luzma began with patterned papers, cardstock and a few embellishments.  She also did some gorgeous cut work to create that large circle piece and used a punch to create a fancy frame for her photos.
Next she brought more detail to her layout by adding a few colored embellishments.
She then completed the layout by adding more embellishment clusters including flowers, chipboard and bling. The placement of each cluster helps to move the eye through the layout in a pleasing manner and helps maintain your focus on her lovely photo.

Cardstock: Double Dot in Ocean Dot
Layered Chipboard: Enchanted
Trinkets: Enchanted
Bling: Enchanted

Michele began with a combination of patterned papers and cardstock.  She also did a bit of cut work to frame her photo and cut strips from a variety of papers to create a series of fun borders.
Next, she added some paint and glimmer which add a nice distressed feel.
Then she added a her title and created a fun edge for her photo by gathering some ribbon.
Finally, she completed her layout by adding more embellishments such as cardstock stickers, trinkets and jewels.  Look at the placement of the green and pink embellishments.  They are placed in a triangle, which again helps to keep the focus on her beautiful photo.

I couldn't resist pulling out my Whoo-ligans for this cute pumpkin patch picture.
Quick, simple and prefectly acceptable.

Now add some strands of embroidery floss as extra borders and around the picture.
Next, stitch with purple thread around the Noteworthy.

Really add some impact with big flowers and buttons.
The last little detail is the dots done with slick paint.

Step it up!!

Today we are bringing you a new feature that we are calling Step it up!  We have had several requests for simple layouts so we decided to take it a step further and give you simple layouts and then also do a couple of extra steps to show you how you can take your layout to the next level!

Spread your Wings
By Tara Orr

First up we have the amazing Tara and her gorgeous layout using Gabrielle, this is her 'simple' version

Next Tara has stepped the layout up by adding a few extra layers like the brown background layer and extra lace layer as well as some more of the script paper with torn edges which adds a bit more texture.  She has also added some small doilies and other smaller items like the butterflies.

For the final step Tara has added lots more details, including different sizes of flowers in various places, chipboard, bling, stickers and some more smaller butterflies.  She has also added some more subtle details like distressing the edges of some of the layers which adds a lot of depth to a layout, inking some edges and adding some faux stitching along the edge of the Noteworthy pages.  As Tara had to say... "The more the merrier!"

Bo Bunny Supplies used:
Patterned Paper: Elegance, Romance, Cameo, Unwritten and Fairest/Gabrielle
Noteworthy: Gabrielle
Layered Chipboard Stickers: Gabrielle
Combo Stickers: Gabrielle

Gambit
By Carin McDonough

Next up is me, using the summery Barefoot & Bliss and this is my simple version.

My second version has been spiced up a little by distressing the edges of the outer papers, inking some edges, adding a couple of extra layers under the main photo, adding some ribbon which always adds texture and painting my title.  It may not show up that clearly in the photo but I painted the title blue to match the papers, added a layer of crackle paint and then added a layer of white paint to achieve the cracked wood effect, a perfect effect for beachy type layouts!

For my final version I took another sheet of the background paper and cut the flowers out and then layered them on top of the background sheet with foam dots to give some dimension as well as adding a few extra flowers.  I did the same thing with the dot strip under the two smaller photos and added a photo corner and some buttons under the main photo.  Lastly I highlighted the sun by adding a ring of stitching and a ring of bling!

Bo Bunny Supply List:
Patterned Paper: Beach Bag, Bubbles, Dot and Cut Out/Barefoot & Bliss
Cardstock: Double Dot in Slate Dot
Noteworthy: Barefoot & Bliss

6" Paper Pad: Barefoot & Bliss
Ribbon: 3/8" Double Dot Ribbon in Buttercup

Natural Beauty
By Frances Sylvia

Finally today we have Frances who has also used Gabrielle (definitely a favourite amongst the design team!) and has done this layout with its beautiful clean lines in two steps.  Here is the simple version.

And this is Frances' stepped up version where she has added chipboard photo corners to accentuate her main photo as well as other chipboard pieces and various chipboard and paper butterflies.  Don't you just love her large layered butterfly!  Did you notice how the butterflies form a visual triangle to draw your eyes around the page?
